When I was a kid, I used to LOVE “playing” with these do-it-yourself, Radio Shack electronic kits.
It was this big board, with all kinds of circuit components, and next to each particular component was a small spring, in which you could insert a wire. All in all, there were maybe 50 or 100 separate “components” on this board.
In the instruction manual, there were 50, 75, or 150 different “circuits” you could build that would do different things. Flashing lights, various meters, sounds, even a lie detector.
I remember when I had the “75 in one” kit, which allows you to make 75 different things. But I wanted the “150 in one” kit, which, obviously, let you make twice as much stuff.
I asked my mom about it, and she said her usual,
“Save your money!” Which in mom-speak, meant “No.”
But what happened next was pretty interesting, and I’ll never forget it. Instead of just hearing “No,” I actually started thinking of ways to get money.
Before long, I was spending quite a lot of time, figuring out how to get cash. I knocked on doors, offered to mow lawns, always begged and pleaded my parents for extra “chores” for extra cash. The more I thought about it, the more that “150 in one kit” got bigger and bigger in my mind.
And in a matter of a few weeks (a virtual ETERNITY to a kid) I had that new kit.
Much later, when reading several books on wealth creation and similar self development subjects, I kept coming across the concept of a “burning desire.”
That “desire” that is always in the back of your mind, coloring everything you see, hear, and experience.
The stronger that desire is, the more likely and the sooner it will come true.
Ask anybody who’s achieved any kind of success, and they’ll gladly tell you it was in large part due to this “burning desire.”
They always had a strong and clear “vision” of what they wanted. So strong that it began to take on a life of its own. Making their dreams and desires as inevitable as the morning sunrise.
The “raw materials,” the basic building blocks of that desire is inside everybody. But unless you choose how to focus it, by creating something specific that YOU want, it will likely get hijacked by society. Your boss, your friends, advertisers, everybody wants a piece of you.
But once you learn how to focus that built in, raw energy, and create your OWN burning desire?
Anything you want, is yours.
