I recently picked up one of those hand held, gyroscope exercise thingys.
It was an impulse buy, I found myself wandering around in a sporting goods store, so I picked it up.
It’s pretty interesting. It’s based on centrifugal force, and it’s got this pretty weighty piece on the inside of this plastic sphere. The idea is to get it spinning enough, so that it keeps going with it’s momentum, and you just need to input small amounts of energy.
However, getting it started is kinda difficult. You need to roll it against some kind of surface to get the inside spinning, and then kind of rotate it in your hand at just the right frequency to increase the RPM’s.
But once it gets to the threshold RPM to keep going, you’ve just got to input a tiny bit of motion. The reason it works the crap out of your wrists and forearms is that just holding it, and adding the sleight amount of energy takes a LOT of work. Most people can’t continue for more than a couple minutes.
But while you’re playing around with it, you can really FEEL the power in your hands. It’s like the thing has a mind of its own, and you feel as if you’ve tapped into some kind of secret energy that wasn’t there before.
This is the magic of momentum. The very same principle applies in business. Starting up a business is tough, but once you start making some money, and then plug that money back in your business, you hit that magical “sweet spot” that suddenly explodes your bank account.
The same goes with anything you’re creating in life, from relationship success to physical fitness to spiritual enlightenment.
Getting started is tough, but once you get going, you’ll build up some MASSIVE momentum that will carry you forward, getting rid of the need for will power.
And when you can feel that mystical energy in the palm of your hands, as if you’re tapped into some secret source of power, you start to imagine that you really CAN do anything.
