Pressure
I have an Instant Pot.
When I first got it, I was a bit worried.
A high pressure cooker.
I was worried it might explode, killing me and everybody within a ten mile radius.
The very first time I opened it, after cooking something, I kind of flinched.
This was definitely an irrational reaction.
No company would be able to sell a product if it had the tendency to explode and killed everybody with a ten miles radius.
“Uh, yeah, I’m gonna give this product 1 star, as it killed my entire family when all we wanted was a chicken…”
They have a pressure release valve on the back.
When you cook stuff, you can do a “quick release” or a “slow release.”
A slow release is just when you leave and let the pressure slowly bleed off for about fifteen minutes.
The quick release is when you flip the valve in the back and all the steam shoots out.
This COULD be dangerous, if you are an idiot.
“Hey, let me stare DIRECTLY at this pressure release value and see what super hot steam looks like!”
“In fact, let me put my eyeball as close to this pressure release valve as I can to get a really good look!”
Clearly this would go against common sense.
Dangerous Pressure
Releasing pressure is necessary.
A good way to do this with stress-pressure is the following.
This also works if you’re having trouble sleeping, or falling asleep.
Take in a full lung of breath and hold it.
Then squeeze all your muscles in your body as HARD as you can, for as LONG as you can.
Then relax all your muscles, let out the air, and go as limp as you can.
Do this a few times and you’ll be REALLY relaxed.
And guess what, mother nature has programmed us with a automatic pressure release valve.
It’s on the back of your head, just like on the Instant Pot.
Just kidding.
The build in pressure release valve is laughter.
What happens when you laugh?
You tense your muscles over and over.
And release them over and over.
And breathe in and out a bunch of time, sometimes even gasping for air in the process.
This is why parts of you gets really sore if you laugh too much too long.
And when you’re done laughing, you let out a kind of sigh.
Almost as if you’re GLAD that laughter is over.
It’s not that you’re glad the laughter is over.
It’s more that you feel good that some of that PRESSURE has been relieved.
