Need More Appliances
I had this small kitchen, and I always wished I had about ten percent more space.
Then I moved into a much larger house, with a much larger kitchen.
At first it was pretty cool.
But pretty soon, I was always wishing I had about ten percent more space.
Expanding Universe
One of the biggest mysteries in modern physics is why, specifically, the universe is not only expanding, by why this expansion is accelerating.
There’s something about the structure of space itself, in between the visible and detectable energy and matter that we can see, that we don’t understand.
This unknown stuff, which is believed to causing the continuous expansion, is called dark energy.
Negative Gravity
It’s creating something which they sometimes call negative pressure, or negative gravity.
But the reasons for this are unknown, and there are many different theories.
One of them is that there some weird kind of quantum fluctuations.
These virtual particles pop in and out of existence, and even though they cancel themselves out, they leave behind a negative pressure, which continues to push the continued and accelerating expansion of the universe.
Centrally Planned Heists
There’s a very highly trained, centrally located gang of robbers.
First, they send a guy to a neighborhood to install something on the phone lines.
It looks like a regular maintenance thing.
Then he leaves and nothing happens for about six months.
But they install, and they install these all across the country, are brute force hacking systems that eventually learn the WiFi passwords of all the houses.
Part II
Once they know all the WiFi houses, they start the second phase.
They start printing various cryptic messages on their computers.
This is usually to cause a lot of mistrust between all the neighbors.
Eventually everybody is blaming everybody else.
Can’t Sit Still
There’s a group of very clever robbers who are retired.
When they were much younger, they robbed large end items, jewels, fine art, etc., and were never caught.
They tried to retire but they became bored.
So what they now do is a kind of competition.
They’ll break into teams of two or three, and pick different neighborhoods.
Round Robin Burglary
They’ll break into one house at night, and take one object.
Then they’ll break into another house, next door, the next night, and swap that object for one in that house.
Then they take the object from house number two and swap it out with an object in house number three.
Then they continue this as long as they can, until they make a big circle and everything is back where it belongs.
Ideally, they do this so nobody ever knows.
Make A Round Trip
This is the game.
Sometimes, though, somebody finds out.
Either somebody notices something is missing, or they’ll figure out they have something that belonged to their neighbor.
Then eventually everybody on the block will figure out what’s going on.
They call the cops, but the cops won’t do much.
They’re not going to spend a lot of time and resources trying to find out who’s breaking into houses and not really stealing anything.
Phase Two
Eventually, once everybody completely mistrusts everybody else, they send the same message to each house, printing it out on the printer at midnight.
It says something cryptic like this:
I know who’s been doing this.
I will reveal all, and tell you what this person has also been up to.
I have proof, and once I show you this proof, you will be desperate to have this person put in prison.
Everybody’s Going To Know
This will make national news, and everybody will be focused on this horrendous crime.
Of course, all of this is fake.
The real reason they hack into everybody’s WiFi is to find out who’s got the most expensive stuff in their house.
And to find out the combinations of people’s safes, which most people keep somewhere on their computer.
Confusion Installation
All the printing and cryptic messaging is just misdirection.
What happens is all the neighbors meet up in the location specified in the midnight message.
They get into a big fight, and all the cops show up.
Meanwhile, they robbers are quickly cleaning out the house of the most profitable victim.
Since the only onsite requirement is the installation of the WiFi hacking machine, everybody else, up to the final robbery is handled remotely from a central location.
So all they really need to do is send a bunch of WiFi installers, and then a small crew of robbers to the most appropriate places.
String Theory
String theory is one of the famous attempts to explain the expanding space phenomenon.
But string theory so far hasn’t been able to predict much.
It also includes all kinds of different dimensions that we can’t see.
Which may be an explanation why gravity is so weak compared to all the other forces.
Leaking Dimension
They suspect that gravity exists in all dimensions, but since it is on such huge scale, most of it is leaking into all the other dimensions.
The same kind of thing that happens with kitchen space also happens with financial situations.
No matter how much money you have, you’ll always want a little bit more.
And this little bit more seems to get bigger the more money you get.
More of Even More
If you only have a hundred bucks, ten percent more is only ten bucks.
But if you have a million dollars, ten percent more is $100,000.
So it seems our desire for money tends to expand faster as our money gets bigger.
Just like space tends to expand faster as it gets bigger.
Unfortunately, nobody has yet to figure out how to monetize the continuous expansion of space.
