Lucky Read
Once I was playing flag football with some buddies.
I was on defense.
My job was to count three Mississippi’s and run in at the QB.
But when I got to three, something felt a bit off.
So I just stood there, not sure what to do.
I didn’t know why I just stood there.
Then they ran a double reverse, and the guy with the ball ran right me.
From my perspective, I got lucky.
I never played a lot of football so I didn’t have a lot of experience “reading” the offense.
After I grabbed the ball-carrier’s flag, my buddy ran up to me, smiling.
“You saw that coming, didn’t you?”
And I honestly had NO idea what he meant.
Everything that happened was dumb luck.
Maybe.
Subconscious Read
Maybe part of me suspected something was different with the QB’s perspective, who knows.
But in sports, being able to “read” the defense or offense is a pretty good skill.
Usually one not based on dumb luck, as in my case, but a lot of practice.
A lot of practice being burned, and being successful.
Football is very much a non-violent way to appreciate war.
A lot of the same metaphors are used.
Sun Tzu’s famous “The Art of War” has plenty of strategies based on deception.
Just like sports.
And like they say, “All’s fair in love and war.”
And as they also say, “Business is War.”

In fact, in the early days of the British Empire, all the officers of the Royal Navy HAD to read and understand Sun Tzu.
Business is war.
This means EVERYTHING you want in life is not really “fair” like the politicians promise us.
Everything you want is also wanted by other people.
If you want to buy a nice house in a nice area, you are going to need to bid against other buyers.
If you want a decent job, you are going to have to compete against other job seekers.
If you’ve got your eyes on a nice girl or guy, chances are plenty of other people do too.
Embracing competition is the first step to survive in our modern clown show world.
Dominate Everybody
Figuring out how to DOMINATE the competition is the second step.
But luckily most people out there today would have trouble surviving if they couldn’t ask the internet what to do.
So the competition IS kind of weak.
But it is still there.
There is ONE powerful way to get a significant advantage.
To be able to not just read the defense, or the offense, but read the future.
To be able to FEEL the future.
To look a couple weeks or months ahead and kind of anticipate what’s coming.
This is the one advantage that will make everything easier.
