Factory Settings
We all have the same basic fears.
One collection comes from evolution.
Sudden loud noises.
Heights.
Sketchy dark places like forests with little visibility.
The people who were naturally afraid of these things tended to survive at a higher rate, thereby passing on those same genes.
We pick up another collection of fears through our common upbringing.
Once we can get up and talk and walk around, we become EXTREMELY hard to control.
If you are a parent with little kids running around, they can be exhausting.
Why do little kids run around?
Their brains are in data collection mode.
We are born with brains that are not yet finished cooking.
Compared to every other mammal, we take a LONG time to transition from baby to adult.
Our brains need to keep soaking up information and calibrating all of our pre-wiring.
Shut Down Origins
We express this emotionally be feeling a “desire” to run after something.
This almost always (past the age of two) gets us a negative response from the environment.
This is like a one-two “post birth” instinct that is built into us.
This is why purposely calling attention to yourself is terrifying for most people.
Even raising your hand in a restaurant and asking for more water is difficult for some.
This is why nearly everybody has social anxiety to some degree.
And on top of this, most of the desires we have in our brains are very vague.
We’ve never really thought about them.
Sure we might see things and situations in movies and we think, “Wow, I wish something like that would happen to me…”
But we rarely take time to think specify what that might look like in our own lives.
So if somebody walks up to us and says:

“So, tell me about yourself…”
It’s really hard to just do that.
That’s where YOU come in.
A master of human nature.
Somebody who understands everybody’s deep structure of desire.
Even better, somebody who knows how to ask the right questions that are very, very easy to answer.
You will help THEM to clarify and specify their deepest desires.
But they will also experience YOU as somebody who generally wants to find out who they REALLY are.
This will create a very, very fond feeling in them, for you.
This type of focus is up there with cult leader interpersonal charisma.
