Most folks know that there is this thing called hypnosis. We think it’s when we see some stage show, or watch some comedy on TV.
However, most of us are hypnotized much, much more often than we realize.
In fact, there’s case to be made, based on the biological structure of reality and our senses, that we are always in a state of hypnosis.
After all, there are about a million bits of information hitting our senses every second, but our conscious minds are only aware of about 40 bits per second.
That means a lot of it is going straight into our subconscious.
Like right now, you may not notice that feeling in your left foot, or the sounds just behind you to your right, or the barely perceptible feeling of the air moving across the small hairs on the back of your neck.
If we had to pay attention to everything all the time, we’d go nuts.
One thing that helps our brain figure out what to put into our conscious mind and what to save for later is our filters.
These are changing all the time, and are a mix between things Mother Nature thinks is important (like food, danger, and sexy people) and things that you think are important (like things you happen to be thinking about, your own name, and other pregnant ladies if you’re a pregnant lady).
Most of us think these filters are set in stone, and we’ve just got to kind of “go with the flow.”
But in reality, you have a large control over your filters, or your beliefs.
And if you change your beliefs, you’ll change your reality.
Think about it.
40 bits out of 1 million is a very small fraction. There’s a lot of stuff out there you aren’t noticing.
Opportunities, smiling people, inspirational stories and events.
Just think what you could find if you knew where to look.
You can use the patterns of belief change to change your own beliefs, or the beliefs of others.
This means everybody wins.
