I used to go backpacking a lot.
There’s something truly amazing about carrying the supplies you need on your back, and spending the greater part of the day finding your new “home.”
Getting to a relatively flat space, hopefully under some trees and near a source of water. Surrounded by nothing but pure nature, openness, and some of the most stunning scenery that you’ll ever see.
Once a buddy of mine and me were going on this big loop trip of 40 miles or so, where’d end up where we started.
We wanted to reach this valley, but there weren’t trails that led directly there, so we thought we’d “wing it,” and kind of make it up as we went.
As you can expect, it almost ended in disaster, while my buddy made it across, I was lagging behind, and we got separated.
Let me tell you, getting lost in the middle of nowhere with only a backpack is NOT a comforting experience. It had to fight pure panic as I backtracked to where we went off the trail, then had to hike the extra ten miles around to the one trail that did lead into the valley.
I was so exhausted when I finally arrived, that I was violently ill, and took the next day to recover.
Our fantastic plan of fishing in this untouched valley turned into something could have easily been much, much worse.
This happens in our lives all the time. We want some kind of goal, or outcome, and we are too lazy to do what it takes to get there, so we take some shortcuts, and kind of “wing it.”
Now, sometimes this DOES work, but often. Often times we mess things up horribly, and we can’t even go back to where we left the original trail.
The real truth about success is if you want it, you’ve got to earn it. It’s not going to be easy, but it IS possible, if you only know what to do.
It may not happen overnight, but if you know your destination, and you know HOW to get there, if you just keep on keeping on, you WILL get there.
Choose a destination, choose a solid plan to get there, and get moving.
And KEEP moving forward, no matter what.
Here’s something that will help out considerably:
