I used to date this girl a few years ago, and we used to “hang out” in this family fun center.
It was cool because on the week nights it was only ten bucks, and it was pretty much “all you can play,” meaning that all the different activities they had, like the laser tag, go carts, mini golf, etc were all covered.
It was a cheap date, and it was a lot of fun for both of us, as it allowed both of us to run around and act like little kids.
I particularly liked the laser tag, because during the week there was rarely anybody else there, so it was just the two of us running around and blasting away at each other.
They also had this pretty cool arcade, with this really messed up pinball machine.
The middle flippers (the ones halfway up) would randomly just go off. Now, I’m not the best pinball player in the world, but it’s kind of fun to have these flippers randomly going off and messing everything up.
While it does cut your game short, it it’s pretty funny. So long you’re not expecting to score a lot of points. We would play and wait and see when the flippers would start randomly flipping, seeing how long we would last before the game sabotaged us.
Now, this is a lot of fun in the arcade, but many of us live our lives this way.
We just play as long as we can, until something “out there” messes us up.
But is it really “out there?”
It’s hard to argue when a flipper starts flipping uncontrollably. But most of the stuff that happens “out there” in the real world is open to interpretation.
It can really mean whatever we want.
The truth is that we can only be “sabotaged” if we allow ourselves to be sabotaged.
(Cue the Beastie Boys)
Truth is that life here on Earth can really be anything you like. Some game where you’re waiting for somebody or something to come in and ruin everything, or some vast playground that you can get into cheap, and have as much fun as you want.
After all, it is YOUR life, your rules, and YOUR playground?
What do YOU want?
