When you understand how the human mind REALLY works, you’ve got an incredible advantage.
Not only over your own brain, but over the brains of others (if you want, lol).
All of us have these triggers that motivate us to do things, and at the same time these blind spots that keep us from objectively looking at our behavior.
Being able to objectively look at your behavior, and compare what you’ve achieved to what you want to achieve is an incredibly useful skill to have.
One because not many people know how to do this, and two because you can change your behavior slightly to more easily get what you want, regardless of what that is.
For example, I used to work for this sales company. Before we met people inside their homes, we had to call and make an appointment.
There was this new guy that I was training, and he was pretty unsure of himself. It came across in his voice tone. He would end his sentences with rising tones instead of flat or falling tones.
Flat or falling tones will make you sound like an authority, while rising tones at the end of your sentence will make you sound unsure.
Naturally, nobody wants to set an appointment with somebody who’s unsure of himself.
Once I explained this to him, all he did was change his ending voice tone. Nothing else. His words were the same.
His “closing rate,” meaning the percentage of people he made an appointment with over the phone went from about 2% to 16%.
This is what’s possible when you learn about all these triggers and blind spots. You get an objective look at human behavior, and a chance to increase your own success, no matter what you’re doing.
One of the big triggers is authority. In the previous example, all he did was change his voice tone around a bit, and suddenly he had a lot more perceived authority.
Giving him more appointments, more sales, and more income.
Naturally, authority is just one of the triggers you’ll learn.
Leverage just a couple of these triggers, and get rid of a couple blind spots, and your success will shoot through the roof.
