When I was a kid I loved to cook. I still do.
Sometimes though, when I was doing some “experimenting” in the kitchen, things didn’t turn out so well.
I was never one to follow directions, so I kind of just mixed whatever I found, hoping to get a good results. Most of the time it turned out pretty good, as it was nothing more than varieties of stuff between pieces of toast, or things fried up with eggs.
But once I wanted to make some popcorn, and I couldn’t find any oil. I grabbed a bottle of Cairo syrup, which is this sticky, really think syrup.
Needless to say, my creation was a horrible, sticky, disgusting mess that took forever to clean up.
Later, as an adult, I took several cooking classes, bought all kinds of cook books and equipment, and learned to make some REALLY tasty meals. I found this was my “Ace in the hole” when it came to dating.
When girls learned I could cook, it was a no-brainer to invite them over. Even if they weren’t that into me, they would almost always come over just because of curiosity.
And once they were there, well…
The difference between “winging it” in the kitchen and working from a recipe with proper ingredients and equipment is enormous.
It’s the difference between a horrible, sticky, inedible mess, to a delicious meal that people will remember and talk about.
Sadly, when most of us are creating our lives, we’re just “wining it.” Sure, if you’re lucky enough and blessed through genetics or connections you can do all right.
But for most of us, just “winging it” is enough to just get by at best, and create a horrible mess at worst.
Luckily, life is JUST like cooking. With the right ingredients, the right recipe, and the right equipment, you can literally create WHATEVER you want.
