A lot of people are in sales these days.
Unfortunately, most of us don’t realize it. Just because you aren’t out there, knocking on doors, or cold calling customers, the persuasiveness of your language will have a dramatic impact on how successful you are.
Especially with economy swirling down the toilet, more and more people are finding themselves less and less secure in your job.
To be sure, the ability to persuade, or sell your ideas, is more crucial than ever.
Now, there’s the easy way, and the hard way.
As you can probably guess, the hard way is the way most of us tend to things.
We’re always looking for shortcuts, but often times this leads us on a further path than we intended.
So what’s the hard way to persuade? Hit your listener, reader, or client over the head again and again with your ideas, using every trick in the book, hoping you’ll eventually hit one or more “hot buttons.”
We’re so sure in our ideas, we don’t really see ourselves as salespeople. We think we know the “truth,” and all we’ve got to do is get “them” to “see the light.”
Unfortunately, everybody’s got a different truth.
The easy way to persuade?
Find THEIR truth first. Understand it. Accept it. Agree with it.
THEN show them how YOUR truth is a good fit for THEIR truth.
Easy peasy.
