Most people amble through life without much choice.
Sure, we’ve got some pre-programmed desires, get more sex, get more money, stay safe, but outside of that, it’s easy to get lost.
One way around that is to find out what’s important to you, and create a set of goals based on YOU want.
Not what society wants, or what you’ve been taught through school and religion that you SHOULD want, but what you really want.
One of the secrets of successful goal setting is that if you don’t create your goals correctly, you won’t achieve them.
It’s not that goals themselves are hard to achieve. It’s that ones that create unknown and internal conflict are hard to achieve.
For example, let’s say you could stand to lose a few pounds, according to the standards of society.
Now, part of you would like to have that six pack. But another part of you is happy just the way you are.
And if you don’t resolve this, and understand WHY you want that six pack, and WHY you’re also happy the way you are, any kind of weight loss goal is going to be hard to achieve.
Part of you wants it, but part of you doesn’t. Until you resolve those inner conflicts, it’s not going to happen.
That’s why going over your goals (or what you think are your goals) from a bunch of different angles can really help.
Most people spend a few minutes setting their goals, and then a lifetime trying to achieve them.
But when you really dig in to your own mind, and find out what you really want, and the reasons you want them, you’ll be amazed how quickly they come true.
The great thing about your brain is that once you’ve got a really congruent goal, that fires up ALL parts of you, it literally happens like magic.
There’s a set of language patterns, originally designed for therapy, and then later adapted for sales that can help.
When you take a goal, and run them through these patterns, and address any misgivings or limiting beliefs you have about what you can REALLY achieve, and blast away your internal objections, the results are nothing short of amazing.
