Strange Profession
I have a friend who teaches seminars on unicycle tricks.
Because this isn’t a very popular past time, if you can manage to show up in your local park and do a few interesting unicycle tricks, you’ll become very popular.
And due to the statistical permutations and center of mass flexibility, combined with basically shaped objects you’ll find within your local part or open area, there are really not limit to the number of unicycle tricks you can learn.
Waffle Man
There’s this one guy I hang out sometimes after tarot card night, we sometime go down to the local pub and have a few.
He told me he had an experience, but he wouldn’t tell me what it was or how it happened.
But he only told me that as a result of this experience, he makes everything he eats on his waffle maker.
Increase In Circus Activity
Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of traveling circuses come through town.
There’s one that is trying to do their hardest to emulate the traveling circuses that would go from town to town during the great depression.
They’ve got all kinds of carnival barkers, trained elephants, three headed ladies, and impressively accurate psychics.
A lot of recent and very interesting psychological research has been done in the area of memory.
What is interesting is how they’ve applied evolutionary biology to understand how our brains were best configured for language, short term memory, and long term memory.
Memory Tricks
The idea of learning any collection of ideas and then passively being able to remember them makes remembering things very difficult.
It’s very easy to forget things if you don’t use these things actively.
And to use them actively in the pursuit of an instinctive related desire, like sex, money, food, social validation and safety.
Just trying to remember something abstract is very, very difficult, particularly if there isn’t an immediate benefit in being able to understand this.
Imaginary Ideas
This is why ideas like this, without shape or form of function can easily pass through your mind, being forgotten as quickly as they were learned.
But when they combine learning with physical activities, the information has a much stronger finding force to your brain.
For example, under a fight or flight scenario, the mind is much more open and has a much stronger finding force to any information that might save you from danger.
Plus Or Minus Something
For example, if you had to derive the quadratic equation to avoid getting eaten by a tiger, you would remember this for the rest of your life.
Or if you met a gorgeous woman in a bar, and she said she’d give you open and permanent access to her holiest of holies, but only if you were to name all the presidents in a row, you would learn, and you would remember.
Some other techniques include learning while juggling and riding a unicycle, with juggling flaming torches having a two standard deviation advantage over
juggling something less dangerous like bowling ball pins.
Metaphorical Potential
The circus makes for an ideal metaphor for plenty of reasons.
They contain a lot of archetypes, they are nomads, and they typically straddle the area between the known world, and the metaphysical world.
Since he is a highly skilled engineer, he’s re-engineered his waffle maker to help him make nearly anything.
String Cheese
Omelettes, toast, salads, ice cream cones, even string cheese.
The only drawback is that most modern unicycles are designed to do tricks.
Unicycle Trickery
So if you want to master the art of unicycle trickery you’ll need to go through a bunch of unicycles.
But most unicycle dealers will tend to give you a discount if you are going to be buying unicycles in bulk.
But if you get pulled over with a bunch of unicycles in your car, and you don’t have a unicycle dealer’s license, you might have to pay a hefty fine.
