A lot of us go through the world looking for free “goodies.”
Meaning we crave recognition, validation and attention on a deep level. This is absolutely normal, and despite how much we claim only “those people” are doing this, we are very susceptible.
For example, if you plan every step of your life according to your consciously created goals with the precision of a world class chess master, it would still require superman strength of resistance to avoid being swayed by positive public attention.
All of us have these triggers programmed deeply within us, whether we like it or not.
It’s been said that the sign of professional adulthood vs. rookie childhood is how much you can “ignore” these deep automatic triggers and live life consciously, instead of a robot open to the constant attempt to hit those triggers by politicians, advertisers, and everybody else out there who wants something from you.
In fact, next time you’re in a conversation, take a step back, in your mind, and try to “feel out” everybody’s “angle.”
You’ll see that most folks are constantly seeking approval, trying to get more and more attention, and getting everybody to agree that they’re ideas are the best.
Which means if you can speak just a little bit differently, you’ll open up a huge door of opportunity.
If you just put aside your genetically programmed “needs,” and think a couple moves ahead, you’ll be amazed how quickly you can control the conversation, and effortlessly move it wherever you want it to go.
While everybody else is playing checkers, you’ll be playing chess.
Meaning that whatever your intentions are, they’ll have a much higher chance of coming true.
The great news is that because you’ll be speaking with such elegance, those other folks will still be getting their needs met, only it will be by doing what you want.
That way, everybody’s happy. Nobody feels manipulated, and everybody feels like a winner.
