Hit The Floor
In the past decade or so, HIIT, or high intensity interval training has become much more mainstream.
There are a lot of academic studies showing the benefits of high intensity exercises, not only for cardiovascular health, but to potentially be a defense against Alzheimer’s.
A great way to do HIIT is body weight calisthenics.
An obvious benefit to bodyweight calisthenics is you don’t need equipment and it doesn’t cost anything.
Few People Enjoy Exercise
Exercise, of course, is not enjoyable.
In order to benefit from exercise of any kind, you need to slowly train your thinking to see short term pain as having long term gain.
If you’re only capable of seeing any cost benefit analysis in the short term, you might end up with negative long term nearly permanent consequences.
Brain exercises are equally beneficial.
Brain Building
And like body weight exercises, you have to train yourself to do them not based on how enjoyable they are, but on the benefits that will only come slowly and over time.
One great exercise is image streaming.
This is when you close your eyes and describe what you see.
The technique is to speak as quickly and as accurately as you can.
And to allow the images to come as quickly as they come.
Intuition Building
One way to look at this as strengthening the connection between your conscious and subconscious.
This will increase the clarity and accuracy of your intuition.
One way to look at your intuition is all the data that comes in to your senses that is outside of your conscious awareness.
Most people have a very weak, and very inaccurate intuition.
Social Skill Improvement
But if you strengthen your intuition, you’ll be able to read body language much better.
If you strengthen your intuition, you’ll be able to read crowds much easier.
If you learn these techniques, you’ll develop much more emotional intelligence.
This will let you read facial expressions better.
This will let your read people’s intentions better.
This will let you become much more creative.
Congruence Acceleration
This will help you communicate much more congruently.
These exercises will help you increase your charisma.
These exercises will help you increase your personal magnetism.
The more you do these, the more results you’ll see.
The more you do these, the strong your subconscious communication, in both directions, will be.
Exercise vs. Experience
Of course, this means you must see this as an exercise, and not an experience.
The more you do the exercise, the stronger the results will be.
The less you do the exercise, the weaker the results will be.
Probably the biggest potential drawback to doing body weight calisthenics is you don’t have much of a reason to go to a gym.
Gyms can be a great place to workout for plenty of reasons.
Social Opportunities
Lots of scenery, lots of opportunities.
But then you risk turning exercise back into an experience you do for the short term effects and not for the long term benefits.
All actions and behaviors can be seen through this lens.
Are they for short term benefits and unknown and potentially negative long term results?
Or are they short term discomfort to build stronger and more permanent long term benefits.
Delayed Gratification
Essentially it’s a matter of your ability to delay gratification.
And your understanding of how short term pleasure can lead to long term pain.
While short term discomfort can lead to long term gain.
Because according to the laws of economics, everything costs something.
