How’d That Happen?
Plenty of cool inventions happened by accident.
Most inventions were discovered on that path to something greater.
For example, the space race of the 60’s and 70’s spawned a whole industry of related products.
Personal electronics might not have existed had their not been a need for that kind of thing.
This is kind of what they mean when they say, “Necessity is the mother of invention.”
For the United States, this “necessity” was to get to the moon before the Russians.
This necessity drove the invention of TONS of things.
Humans are a weird animal.
Plenty of animals have what’s called an “extended phenotype.”
A phenotype is the stuff that our genotype builds.
The genotype is the code in our DNA.

The phenotype is the stuff that makes.
Normally, this is stuff that is part of US.
Our eye color, height, hair color, etc.
But some animals have an “extended” phenotype.
Like bees make beehives.
Ants make anthills.
What do humans make?
We make MORE than what we see.

How can we do this?
We have a brain that can LITERALLY dream up new stuff.
Literally?
Yes, literally.
Plenty of inventions have come to people in DREAMS.
And not just old school inventions.
Artistic inventions.
Mary Shelley, the lady who wrote Frankenstein, came up with the plot from a dream she had.
Frankenstein is likely one of the MOST FAMOUS monsters of all time.
A monster that the author LITERALLY dreamed up.
What’s the difference between people who DREAM themselves a literal fortune, and those who only have weird dreams they can’t remember?
Not much.
Unlimited Dream Potential
Everybody has dreams every night.
If you can’t dream, you can’t sleep.
Nobody knows for sure WHY we dream.
One idea is it’s kind of like the old school Greek Catharsis.
We watch the tragedies, vicariously suffer horrific losses, and those emotions serve as a kind of a cleansing effect.
Dreams might do the same thing.
We battle demons in our dreams.
Sometimes to the point of waking up in a cold sweat.
This might be PRACTICE for real life.
To battle REAL demons.
Dream Deciphering
Or if we are having a very WEIRD dream about stuff we don’t understand, that might be a message.
Some people take these messages, and turn them into fame and fortune.
Plenty of scientific discoveries came because the inventors were able to pay attention to their dreams.
Edison famously and deliberately USED his dreams.
Dude would lay down to sleep on his bed, holding to big metal balls.
He’d fall asleep, drop the balls and the sound would wake him up.
Then he’d IMMEDIATELY write down everything running through his dreaming mind.
And used those ideas to make a fortune.
Maybe every problem you have is being SOLVED for you.
Every night.
By your dreaming mind.
