Pace and Lead
Robert Collier, super genius copywriter, once said, that if you want to change somebody’s thinking, you need to first enter the conversation already taking place in their mind.
If you wanted to walk up to a group of strangers on the street and sell them some winter coats, you should start by entering the conversation they are already having.
Then slowly guide the conversation toward the purchase of coats.
The linguistic way to do this is by pacing and leading.
A pacing statements is something they will agree with.
A leading statement is something you want them to agree with.
So long as the leading statement is not so far out there, they’ll generally accept it.
And once they accept it, that leading statement, which is now believed to be true in their mind, can be the next pacing statement.
This is how you slowly shift from where they are, to where you want them to be.
Pace, pace, lead.
Pace, pace, lead.
Pace lead, pace lead, pace lead.
Acceleration
One fantastic tool that will help with this is the embedded command.
When you put embedded commands in the leading statement, it will be much easier for them to accept.
Example:
Right now you are reading this sentence.
Now you are reading this sentence.
And you might begin to wonder, now, how you might USE EMBEDDED COMMANDS.
And as you continue to wonder how you might USE EMBEDDED COMMANDS, you might begin imagine all the benefits.
And it is fairly easy to IMAGINE BENEFITS, is it not?
You might even begin to FANTASIZE, now, about the powerful effect you can have on people.
About how you can USE THIS TECHNIQUE to move people’s minds wherever you want them to be.
You may even begin to IMAGINE SOMEBODY, now, that you know.
And IMAGINE exactly how you’d like them to think and behave.
To IMAGINE how you’d like them to feel when they see you.
And as you continue to WONDER, now, about how easily that might be, you might begin to feel a sense of playfulness, now, as you continue to read this sentence.
You might even start to FEEL A SENSE OF AMBITION, as you imagine a year or so in the future, long after you’ve made the decision, now, to MASTER EMBEDDED COMMANDS for profit and love.
