Reject Limitations
Once upon a time, there was a child.
This child was special.
A gift from God.
The child would scream and giggle.
Even though the child couldn’t do much more than lay there and try to interact with the world, it was happy.
Very, very happy.
Whenever the child saw another person, they would squeal delightfully.
Further building the happy human feedback loop in their brain.
The kind when you see somebody and smile.
They see you smiling and feel good.
Then they smile.
Anonymous Feedback Loop
Even though you don’t know them, and they don’t know you, everybody’s happy.
You may not know it, but you are sharing a happy human feedback loop that has been responsible for making more people.
It’s almost as if we silly self-aware monkey people have a program that drives us to do that.
To find strangers to smile at.
To find happy people to share happy feelings with.
To share happy conversations with.
To share happy and wonderful sexual experiences with.
To make more of those happy people.
Like the child hero of this story.
Meanwhile…
By the way, where did we leave our hero?
Oh yea, smiling and giggling and sucking as much happy data into thier happy baby brain as possible.
But then, one day, tragedy struck.
Well, not really tragedy.
Depends on who you ask.
From the little kids perspective, it was the GREATEST invention of all time.
Independent movement.
Before, the kid could only lay there.
Wait around for people to come into their field of vision.
But after the invention of walking and then running, that changed everything.
Disruptive Technology
Especially when our hero could run places.
Interesting places.
Colorful places.
Screaming and yelling and squealing in delight.
But unbeknownst to our hero, this was the beginning of the end.
Adults like happy babies.
When they lay there and be happy.
But when the little kids run around screaming and yelling?
Disaster!
Didn’t See It Coming
Over the next few years, our hero was taught a dangerous lesson.
Yelling around screaming delightfully sometimes is DANGEROUS!
Other people might become ANGRY!
After all, children are supposed to be SEEN and not heard, right?
One day, our hero was in elementary school.
And made a joke during class they were SURE would make them super popular among all the cool kids.
But it didn’t work!
All it did was make the teacher ANGRY!
Like an escaped demon from hell put here only to EAT all the child-like happiness!
To teach children that it’s DANGEROUS to be happy and exuberant and playful!
That children must do more IMPORTANT things like make sure to color between the lines!
Now that child is grown and locked inside of a self made prison of social anxiety.
Who is this poor child, who had their light snuffed out?
You.
However, all those “laws” laid down by the adults in your childhood are really just suggestions.
You can follow them, or ignore them.
It really IS your choice.
