Have you got a fear or phobia you want to get rid of? I’ve got just the ticket. Even if you don’t it’s handy to learn this, as it can come in fantastically handy at parties.
Most people think that getting rid of some deep fear from childhood takes thousands of dollars and years of therapy. So when you overhear somebody mention they’ve got one, and you can take care of it in five minutes, you’ll be an instant success.
Massive charisma and unlimited popularity.
Obviously, you can use this on yourself any time.
First, you’ll need to come up with a phobia, like snakes or cockroaches, or something.
Then you’ll need to think back to the very first time you got the fear. Like when your brother came into your room and threw a snake on your face while you were sleeping or something.
This also works for memories that have a strong, negative emotional component to them, so you can remember the event without getting all worked up.
At any rate, come up with the “initial sensitizing event.”
Got it? Good.
To begin with, we’ll get a reading of how much it bothers you. Think of it now, and give it a rating on a scale of 1-10. 10 is complete panic, and 1 is falling asleep.
Remember that number.
Next, we’ll do some hallucinating. No narcotics required.
Imagine that you’re sitting, all by yourself, in a movie theater.
Except not you’re not quite all by yourself.
Up there, a few rows ahead of you, is you. Waiting for the movie to start.
So there you are, watching you, getting ready to watch a movie.
Now the movie starts, and guess what?
It’s that initial sensitizing event. Watch yourself watch it through at normal speed.
OK?
Now, watch yourself watch it playing backward, normal speed.
Next, watch it moving forward again, but put some goofy elements in there.
Like if there’s snakes, make them riding unicycles, or put them in Spiderman pajamas.
Now watch the movie through again.
Next, put some crazy music to it. Like those dogs barking “Jingle Bells,” or something.
Watch it forward now, double speed. With all the added effects.
Watch it backward, triple speed.
Watch it forward, five times, quadruple speed.
Do this for a couple minutes.
Now remember the actual event again, and rate it like you did before.
Chances are, it’s much less.
If it’s only a little bit less, take some time, and go through the process again. Be sure to visualize strongly, and use all kinds of crazy additions to the movie.
If you keep at it, you’ll systematically be able to remove all the fear and phobia from your life.
What will you be able to do then?
