Give Me
Most people are stuck in the childhood mindset these days.
And this, combined with another “worldview” can lead to devastating results.
First, what is the childhood mindset?
When we are kids, we can’t produce.
We can only consume.
And what we consume MUST come from others.
What we consume is ANYTHING we need to stay alive.
Food, housing, electricity, clothes, entertainment, textbooks, teachers, etc.
Despite common beliefs, this doesn’t come from through a portal to the parallel dimension of free stuff.
This MUST be produced by other people.
Cave People
This is easiest to visualize within a caveman society.
When you’re a kid, you consume without producing.
But eventually, as you grow up, you can’t consume UNLESS you produce.
And the more status you want, the more you PRODUCTION has to be MORE than your consumption.
This is exactly where status comes from.
The more you produce in excess of you and your family’s needs, the more OTHERS benefit from your production.
And in exchange for that, you get, from them, recognition, admiration, respect, which all ads up to status.
In the old days, this was a slow and natural transition.
From childhood mindset to adult mindset.
Which leads to modern thinking.
Everybody wants to GET something, but few realize that you first need to GIVE something.
The Important Stuff
Particularly in the realm of love and money.
But the second worldview makes this even worse.
This is an ancient one.
The “is vs. ought” problem.
The way the world really IS vs the way we think the world “ought” to be.
So everybody looks out into the world.
Everybody has an idea about how the world SHOULD be.
Seen from the childhood mindset, this takes the form of:
“I shouldn’t have to do anything. The world SHOULD give me what I want.”
But here is the most harshest truth of all:
The world DOES NOT CARE about you.
Only you and your kin care about you.
And if you are lucky, those that pay you in exchange for your skills care about you.
But all the random people out in the world feel absolutely ZERO obligation to “give you” anything.
Because THEY are also feeling the same way most people do.
Free Stuff
“The world should give me what I want.”
But something funny happens when you actually get out into the world.
And start to mingle with people.
Not from a “what can you give me” mindset.
And not from “what do you want from me” mindset.
But from a trading mindset.
When BOTH of you are better off after ANY exchange.
This is what will lead to a life of happiness and abundance.
