Moths To A Flame
When moths fly around a light, over and over and over, it’s kind of funny but it also doesn’t make sense.
From an evolutionary standpoint, it doesn’t seem to be a very effective instinct to go straight toward the light.
That trait would seem to have been eliminated from the moth gene pool, but there it is.
Silly Monkey
There’s a very old video, one I saw as a child, of some Africans tricking a monkey into revealing it’s hidden source of water.
The pretended to have something really cool, and hid it when they knew the monkey was watching.
But when the monkey reached into grab the hidden treasure, his hand got stuck, just as they’d expected.
Wrong Place, Pal
There’s a town in the Midwest that is often mistaken for another town that has a locally famous tourist attraction.
The residents become so annoyed of telling the tourists they were in the wrong city they decided to concoct an elaborate prank to play on the misguided tourists.
And this prank became so elaborate it would be famous if it were not kept so secret, as secrecy is one of the main elements of this prank.
Hidden Forest
There is a forest in Europe that is very heavily guarded by a collection of NATO military scientists.
One because it is so dangerous.
But more so because it has some very powerful mind control properties that they are very much hoping to someday weaponized.
They believe it is a large parasitic like organism, somewhat similar to the Venus flytrap.
One Large Carnivore
The entire forest is actually one organism that only appears to be a group of trees.
They are arranged in a large, dense ring of several miles across.
The trees in the outer ring emit a kind of signal, they still aren’t sure, that is very compelling to mammals.
No Escape
But once the mammals make their way inside the ring, these same outer trees emit a very different signal.
One that makes a very distressing feeling in all mammals.
This essentially traps them, as anytime they get near the perimeter, they are forced back into the center.
They eventually die.
Eaten By Roots
When they die, the tree-like organism surrounds them with roots, and extracts all their nutrients.
It is believed that half of the trees on Earth are actually this tree mimicking organism.
NATO scientists have recently found evidence within their DNA to indicate this organism might be extra terrestrial in nature.
All Trees?
They caution against any stray emotions nearby any trees.
Especially emotions of either deep longing or desire, or emotions of deep fear or anxiety.
Both of these might be artificially created by these tree like entities.
Super Elaborate
They hired a few psychologists to help them.
So when they tell their story, it is a highly calibrated series of pieces of a hypnotic puzzle.
So when people come looking, and are told bits and pieces by all the residents, the end results is they stay in that town for a few days.
And they spend a lot money, and leave having wonderful memories of visiting the non-existent tourist destination.
This second town actually makes more money in revenue from it’s hallucinated tourist destination than the first down does with the real destination.
Here, Eat This…
Once he gets stuck, they keep feeding him salty snacks.
Eventually he gives up, let’s go of his treasure, which isn’t really treasure and is, in actuality, just a trick, and goes to his secret source of water.
They follow him, and get some of the monkey’s water.
Navigational Partner
Way back before large societies were invented moths used the moon for navigation.
So long as they kept the moon at a certain angle, they knew they were going in a straight line.
This would allow them to leave at night, go find something to eat, and find their way back home.
Civilization Ruins Everything
But now, with lights all over the place, the moths are more confused than ever.
They keep going in circles, ending up in the same place.
The question is, do the moths know they are going in circles, and they just can’t help it?
Or do they think they are going in a straight line, only everything looks really familiar?
They Come At Night
If so, do they feel a consistent and never ending feeling that you’ve been here before.

Until you get eaten by the trees that are all around you.
