Smile Triggers
Most people love babies.
Most of the time.
Particularly if it’s not your baby.
If it’s your baby, and you haven’t slept in a couple of weeks, maybe not.
Most people feel the same about kids and general.
So long as they are in a good mood, and they aren’t yours, most people feel pretty good around kids.
There’s not a lot of things that can change our moods automatically.
Imagine if you’re in kind of a grumpy mood.
Maybe on the way home from work or something.
Or wandering through the supermarket.
What might automatically lift your mood?
Finding a hundred dollar bill?
A super gorgeous girl smiling at you openly and extendedly?
A long last pal calling your name from behind?
A couple of kids having a funny “child like” conversation, both in a good mood?
Hey Buddy!
The guy behind the meat counter in a really good mood that decides to tell you a pretty funny joke he just heard?
Unless you’re planning your next serial killer murder, most of these events would put a smile on your face.
What do they all have in common?
(Except Ben Franklin…)
They are all people who are OPEN with their emotions.
Open with their positive emotions.
They are sharing their positive emotions with you.
Or at the very least, they don’t mind sharing their positive emotions when you are within ear shot.
What would be the opposite?
Two folks having a friendly, open, back and forth conversation.
Smiles and laughs.
Then they see you.
They both look at you, quickly blank their faces and act like nothing happens.
This would be not so good.
Share The Love
But suppose two people are having a friendly, open, cheerful, laughing conversation and they see you.
And they try to get you to JOIN the conversation.
Even if they don’t know you.
This is a very good feeling.
To be noticed, appreciated and welcomed.
As if they see you and say:
Hey, stranger, we’re having a good time, come and join us!
The more the merrier!
This is the kind of thing that makes all the bad moods vanish.
This is the kind of self sustaining loop that builds on itself.
They smile, you smile, other smile.
Gorgeous people smile at you.
People wish they had funny jokes to share with you.
Little kids feel open and expressive around you.
Even normally angry pets come up and enjoy being around.
This is the kind of attitude that will make life a party.
