I used to work with this guy a long time ago that loved to bet on Football.
Every Monday he’d tell us how he almost made a ton of money, but he ended up losing everything.
Funny thing was he had this idea that every single game was rigged, that the outcome was predetermined even before the game started.

The Pareto principle is very interesting concept.
Twenty percent of any sales force will make eighty percent of the money.
This will be true regardless of how or who does the hiring, and regardless of how much training is given to the sales staff.
Wanna Bet?Simulated Universe
The idea that we are living in a simulation is very hard to disprove.
Even if we aren’t, and even if we are the only intelligent life in the universe, it’s pretty guaranteed that in a hundred years we’ll have the computer technology to create a simulation.
Which means that at least in the future, multiple simulations will not only be possible, but very, very common.
Unlikely To Not Be True
So the idea that this reality is NOT a simulation is very unlikely.
The only question is what is the purpose of this particular simulation.
Who is controlling it.
Who is the architect of your thoughts and your dreams and your ambitions?
One theory is that we are part of a normal science education in an advanced alien or advanced human civilization.
Simulation Class
Just like American school kids dissect frogs and look at bacteria under microscopes, future American children or current advanced alien races will probably have evolution based simulation experiments as part of normal education.
What we perceive as millions of years of evolution may be one afternoon of a science lecture.
Another theory says that this particular simulation may be part of a commercially available home video game.
Video Games
Very much like today’s multi role playing games, we might be in a multi role playing planetary battle.
There could be multiple reasons are architects have built us and have created your illusions of self awareness.
It could be part of a psychological study.
Genetics Driving Thought
Letting different primates with different genetic configurations evolve to see what impact it may have on your thought process.
This is why you hear those voices at night.
This is why you feel a presence when you are sleeping.
They Come When You’re Dreaming
A presence that is standing just outside of your peripheral vision.
Listening to your thoughts, and watching you sleep.
This also might be why you keep having those impulses to do those things.
Those things you know you shouldn’t do, but you feel very compelled to do them anyway.
Or, Not…
Or this could be nothing.
This just could be a function of your imagination.
Of being able to imagine things that don’t exist.
Until they become real.

Even random people tend to find gambling opportunities.
You see some guy sitting on a bar stool, and it’s almost automatic to try and guess when he’s going to fall off.
Gambling is very much like outsourcing your competition.
Cathartic Competition
A way to compete without getting involved.
But still being able to experience the thrill of victory, or the agony of defeat.
Once the Pareto principles are winners, largely to do unpredictable circumstances, then other influence factors kick in.
Piling Triggers
Authority, social proof, commitment and consistency, etc.
Even though he was certain the games were all rigged, he kept betting large amounts of money.
His idea was that if he could only figure out HOW the game was rigged, he would soon be on easy street.
Benefit From Rigging
Which seems to be a very common idea.
That we live in a very rigged system.
But if you can figure out exactly HOW and in which direction everything is rigged, you can get whatever you want.
