Never Assume
If you study game theory, one of the prime directives is to never assume what the other person’s intentions are.
In sports, teams and players do everything they can to fake out their opponents.
Even in chess, there are plenty of strategies based on trickery.
Why do we humans do this?
Because it works.
It is VERY easy to trick people into thinking false things about us.
All it takes is a little confidence.
A long time ago, I read an article about George Clooney.
Who was, back then, a young and up and coming actor.
He said the main thing when going on auditions was confidence.
This seems kind of odd.
But not really.
The Meta Skill
Confidence allows you to be whoever you want.
For acting, this is the character.
But when you want to scam people and create a whole world in which you can slowly let loose your scam, you need the very same confidence.
That’s why they call them “con-men.”
Or confidence men.
Because they are SO confident, we believe whatever they say.
Now, because they want a lot of our money, the “worlds” they create with their confidence have to make it seem legitimate for us to give them our money.
Many, many guys have learned the same thing when it comes to getting laid.
Some outright lie to ladies.
And it works, in the short term.
Some practice patterns and conversational tactics and other “routines.”
And guess what?
They work.
Con Artist
Just like a seasoned actor has confidence to pretend to be somebody they are not, PUA guys do the same thing.
Practice the same routines over and over, until it feels natural, and it works.
In the short term.
If you want to con people, if you want to scam yourself some action, it’s really not that difficult.
But you can also go meta.
Clearly, if you are confident enough in ANY con, for ANY reason, people will believe you.
Most people have this strange idea that people can stare directly into our souls and instantly know EVERYTHING about us.
But guys who play sports and games of strategy like chess, who have been practicing their ENTIRE lives, still fall for misdirection.
The truth is that humans are SUCKERS.
If it were possible to look into anybody’s soul and know EVERYTHING about them, chess players would know everything about their opponent.
Con men would go out of business.
End Of Democracy
Politicians would never get elected.
NOBODY would ever get any kind of short term action.
So, what does this mean?
Become a player or a con man?
Nope.
Believe in yourself, and everybody else will.
If you walk the earth with a genuine appreciation for YOU, everybody you meet will have a genuine appreciation for YOU.
You’ll be playing yourself in the most epic story of all time.
