I used to know this guy that was incredibly charismatic. I mean off the charts, turn everybody’s head when he walked into a room charismatic.
I first ran into him at this public speaking course I was taking. At the time, I couldn’t put my finger on it, but there was something incredibly magnetic about him.
The strange thing was that he never really spoke too much about himself.
He would talk about the people he knew (always saying nice things), and he would talk about the person he was talking to.
But the way he did it was what was so compelling about him. I mean, there’s people who talk to you, and ask the right follow up questions, and may even pretend to be interested, but that kind of “fakeness” is usually pretty easy to spot.
But this guy gave the impression that no matter what you were talking about, it was insanely interesting to him.
It was as if he could see through the surface structure content, and find the excitement that lies beneath.
And he could do this with pretty much everybody he spoke with, regardless of the topic.
Needless to say, he always had a huge list of gorgeous girls to choose from (last I checked, he wasn’t married) and he had a couple of “part time” gigs on the side that made more than enough money to live VERY comfortably.
(Companies were always begging him to consult for their sales and marketing department.)
All because of his incredibly magnetic communication styles.
