I caught that scene from “Back to the Future” on TV the other night. McFly was in the restaurant, speaking to his future wife, when he said:
“You are my density.”
She, being confused, looked at him with a puzzled look on his face.
Then he corrected himself, and said,
“You are my destiny.”
He, of course, knew this because of the magical Flux Capacitor, the driving force of time travel in that particular movie.
When was the last time that happened to you?
(not the travel part, lol)
I mean the part where you want to say something, but it comes out all jumbled up, different from what you’d expected?
If you’re like most people, it happens a lot. Sometimes it can be funny, (like when you’ve got a word halfway out, and you suddenly decide to use a different word, and in the process say something completely meaningless), sometimes it can be confusing, but other times it can be heartbreaking.
The worst is when you want to say something, anything, but you just stand there with a helpless look on your face.
That opportunity that you’ve been dreaming of has suddenly and unexpectedly dropped in your lap, but you’re standing there like a deer in the headlights.
On the one hand, you got excited. The moment you’ve been dreaming of.
On the other hand, your subconscious looked out into the future, and came up with about a billion possible scenarios (all in about half a second, your subconscious is pretty good at stuff like that) that wouldn’t be enjoyable.
Consequently, part of you wants to say something, but another part of you is screaming “DON’T DO IT!!!”
(why somebody came up with the crazy idea that it’s because some cat stole your tongue, I’ll never know)
But what if this never happened? What if you could just say whatever you wanted, without fear? Without really worrying about what others thought?
What if, even better, you could take what you wanted to say, and craft a message that would be received in the best possible way?
What if, instead of your subconscious looking for danger, your subconscious was looking for opportunities, and you would just say the best possible thing so everybody involved could get what they wanted?
Would that make life easier?
You bet it would!
Luckily, with a little bit of conscious understanding why this happens, and some hypnosis to change how you respond on an unconscious level, it’s easier than you may think.
