To get better at shooting free throws, you need to practice throwing free throws.
This means you are slowly building up a ton of success data, connecting the behavior that created the success to the good feeling.
You are also building up tons of failure data, to connect negative feelings to whatever behavior created the failure.

There’s an interesting science fiction novel about a race of people that keep evolving over and over.
They start out as lower primates, develop intelligence and self awareness, and then a advanced and sophisticated economy.
Then something happens, they go extinct and the whole process repeats.
Bible Stories
There are plenty of parables in the Bible, but there are a few that have the same basic meaning.
These are the ones around ideas of the first being last and the last being first.
This is generally used to support that you can’t get into heaven by your good works, one can only get into heaven by the unknowable grace of God.
Einstein Loops
Einstein explained the curvature of space time.
That if you keep going in this direction, you’ll eventually come out over in the other direction.
It could be the space time might not be the only thing that is curved.
It could be the laws of physics are always changing.

They reach an extreme at maximum entropy, and those are the situations that shift immediately into minimum entropy.
This of course, creates a big bang and the same thing happens over again.
This also means that even our own brains are repeating the same cycle over and over.
Thinking Loops
Which means you’ve listened to these words several billion times before, and you will listen to them several more billion times in the future.
Of course, if space time and the laws of physics are circular, and keep feeding into themselves, history might not be appropriate.
History as a straight could very much be a line tangent to a certain point on our circular evolving reality.
A mathematical derivative that is only appropriate at any particular space and time.

If you study the religious debates during the middle ages, the idea of how specifically one gets into heaven was always one of the key elements.
Particularly when you consider that at the time of the Reformation, the only people who held the keys to heaven were the Catholic church.
And the main thing that sparked the reformation was that the Catholic church was effectively selling tickets to heaven.
Self Destructive Primates
Of course, the idea embedded into the story is that nuclear war was the thing that kept making them go extinct.
So we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.
Maybe because when we try and learn from history, we look back in a straight line, when there isn’t anything there.
