What do super heroes do?
Protect the weak against the evil.
What do super villains do?
The use their powers to amass power and wealth, at the expense of the law abiding citizens.
Modern comic book superhero’s represent the absolute idealized version of a more standard, mythological archetype.
If you want to see some serious family dysfunction, check out some of the Greek gods.
Some really messed up stuff.
They are gods, but they are messed up, just like us.
This is why genuine hero’s need to go through a learning curve.
They need to have doubts.
So for inspirational type, role model driven mythology, we want heroes that have doubts just like us.
Doubt And Pain
Even Jesus had doubts and wished he didn’t have to go through the ordeal.
But for pure entertainment, we don’t really need that much “realness.”
We like guys like Superman and Spiderman to swoop in, save the day, and leave everybody happily ever after.
This is why any human that even APPROXIMATES this kind of behavior is instantly famous.
Pilots who land planes instead of crashing, people who save kids and pets from burning buildings, even folks who help old ladies cross streets are considered, at least temporarily, heroes.
This is why the ladies love the fireman type.
Just the idea that this guy’s job is to face danger and save people is enough to create attraction.
That and they’re in pretty good shape.
Ubiquitous
We all have the hero “instinct.”
We all LOVE the idea of “being” the hero.
If you recall your very first crush, this woke up your “hero” instinct.
Just seeing him or her made you feel like doing something MAGNIFICENT.
Something great that would get the hero response from society so she would notice you.
This instinct is very, very ancient.
The ancient hunters who provided the most meat GOT that hero response.
Every young dude since the dawn of time has laid awake at night wondering HOW they could BE that hero.
The hero that kills the beast and saves the tribe from starving.
Then there are “fake” heroes.
People who only pretend to be strong.
This is why nice guys get so angry.
They do something they “think” is going to “save her.”
But when she doesn’t fall all over herself to thank him, the nice guy gets angry.
Because he’s not providing her with what she REALLY wants.
Only what he thinks she wants.
Compliments, etc.
Destroy Conversational Bullies
Then there are the bullies.
They are so terrified seeing OTHER people be the hero, they are always putting down ANYBODY who exhibits “hero” like energy.
But bullies have a certain structure.
To their frame and their language.
A structure is VERY EASY to destroy, once you understand it.
And once you learn how to DESTROY conversational bullies, you will BE the hero to everybody else.
