Cute Girl At Work
This girl I used to work with was cute and she was part of the same religion that I participated in. One weekend she and her group were going to a picnic. She invited me to go with her. I figured I could use Jesus to get an in.
It was actually a sub picnic with her larger church. There’s a lot of them. In one of the groups there was this older woman. She was in her 70s and I could tell by the way other people talking she was part of larger churches.
There were a lot of things going on. At one point this older woman invited us over to her house. I wasn’t really paying attention to the overall conversational. I was trying to figure out how to get into this girl that I was interested in. Me and this girl and a bunch of others followed this older woman to her house nearby.
It was about a ten minute walk. The first thing I noticed was she had a very very large house filled with very very old and very very expensive things. It was in a regular middle-class neighborhood. It was very very nice large spacious obviously wealthy person home.
How’d She Get Her Loot?
Another thing I noticed was there wasn’t any pictures of any other family and I was kind of curious about why she was in this house by herself. Why no husbands or grandkids. She started telling us a story about when she was young.
She started to belong to all these different religious. She said that when she was in her 20s, she probably mid 70s so fifty years ago, she kind of joined this sort of hippie commune nature group. Started off with the way a lot of these things start off as people want to go out to away from city life.
The ones that will live completely self-sufficient. They did that for while. The rule was they had everything made. Everything they used was had to be produced by nature. They couldn’t use anything that was produced by technology or any post industrial stuff.
Nature Only
So they had no electricity and streams to take baths. The leader would preach every so often and it seemed to be spontaneous. It didn’t seem to be on a set schedule. Every so often their leader, their pastor would just start telling these kind of sermons.
He would only do so when it was clear enough at night and when the moon provided enough light and he would just start talking and he would just kind of spontaneously start talking nobody would know this was coming.
He just started talking, people kind of gathered around in the woods. He would start talking about how one of the biggest misconceptions of being human is that we are all separate entities.
His theory was that once upon a time there was one single organism that was alive and all the other organisms or matter and now we have all of this stuff is all part of the singular humongous life form that exists on earth.
No Life Is Separate
The biggest misconception this is to think that where all the separate entities. We’re really just separate aspects of this one humongous life then you start talking about how life sustains itself by consuming itself.
Animals eat other animals and plants. Insects eat animals insects eat plants plants take matter from the earth and bring it up into the trees, take their leaves in the take energy from the sun and transfer it into their own life energy.
This whole humongous singular life form on earth sustains itself both by having sexual energy which it uses to reproduce itself and its consumption of itself. These two things have made his life form go from a single entity to this humongous gigantic thing that covers the entire Earth.
He would start talking pretty soon these people in this cult would shift from seeing themselves as separate humans that are all members of this one group to see themselves as part of one larger organism.
Vanising People
Inevitably after he finished his long story like sermons that sometimes lasted a couple of days they would be less people than when they’re started.
This would seem totally normal to them. They never really thought that it was a bad thing that would just they would start off like 20 people he would tell these stories for two or three days about the singular life form on earth consuming itself and when he finished there be 18 or 17 people.
Nobody seemed to question that. Nobody seemed want to talk about the two or three people vanished. Nobody even seemed need to worry about her think about wonder why or how but eventually this woman kind of started to feel constrained. She started to wonder what happens to me? If I’ve been vanished, what happens to me if I’m the one that disappears?
What Happens To Me
What happens to my identity, my sense of self, do I become one with the whole life, lose my sense of self? She didn’t want to find the answer that so she left so she was telling us all this and we’re all kind of creeped out.
But then she said that’s exactly what Jesus teaches us.
She said because Jesus teaches us that unless you consume my body and drink my blood can’t go to heaven. It’s the same angle was that essentially Christianity is the same as this kind of weird nature cannibal cult and a lot of the people in the church actually started to follow along with her logic.
On the surface structure it does seem the same thing and it does seem not a big leap from the idea of a gigantic organism on earth consuming itself to Jesus telling his followers that unless you eat my body and drink my blood can’t get to heaven.
Maybe We Shouldn’t Mention This To Anybody?
After that I was a little bit less interested in that girl at work and I never really asked her about that as I was kind of curious to see if maybe she was still a member of this ancient nature cult recruiting members from church but I just felt it was better to not talk about this.
