I have this friend, and this guy is absolutely insane.

He makes pretty good money, but this guy just likes to do insane things for fun.

Geo-Caching
His latest hobby is geo-caching.
Kind of like a planetary wide scavenger hunt.
When you hide things and people come and find these things that are hidden.
Normally, this is OK.
But this guy and his buddies do this in very, very dangerous places.
Huge Maze Of Hay
There’s this huge theme park in the mid west.
The main attraction is this gigantic maze.
It’s one square mile, and this is made out of bales of hay.
They won’t let you into this unless you have a smartphone with at least four hours of battery time.
Can’t Enter Without A Map
And you have to download this app before they’ll let you in.
In the center of the maze is like an Octoberfest.
There is lots of alcohol here.
Super Genius Crazy People
I met this group of guys once at that really strange networking event.
These guys were able to enjoy fantastic success very early on, which can be very dangerous.
Most normal people to learn from trial and error.
Learn From Failure
The best education comes when you give yourself permission to make mistakes.
When you learn from mistakes.
But these guys were all very, very successful right out of high school.
They each were able to start a business and have mad success with that business.
And they did this many times in a row.
No College Required
They didn’t need college.
They were all billionaires before they were 25.
Now they have a ton of money, but they need to find excitement.
Rat Neighborhood
And they do that buy living in the sewers.
They buy a lot of NASA level equipment.
Portable water purification systems.
Portable air purification systems.
They get all kinds of preventative medical injections so they don’t catch a disease.
Don’t Become Rat Food
So they don’t get eaten by rats.
They sometimes live in the sewers for months at a time.
Life is a very strange idea, from a biological and scientific standpoint.
On the one hand it’s completely rare, and completely unknown how it starts.
Goldilocks and the Three Planets
All they know is nature needs to create a kind of Goldilocks conditions.
Where everything is perfect.
Only in this condition is life possible.
But the funny thing is, once this condition is set up, it’s almost like life just happen spontaneously or randomly or haphazardly.
Life Is Automatic
Once you set up these conditions, life is almost guaranteed.
Even in the most messed up places imaginable, you’ll find various kinds of life able to absolutely thrive.
Like in these vents on the bottom of the ocean.
These vents have warm water coming from deep within the earth.
Life Thrives Wherever It Can
And once you create the basic biological components, life will show up.
Life will evolve into whatever it feels like evolving.
Scientists who study natural selection love to look at this.
Study This
They love to study this.
They find these insane creatures everywhere.
These guys like to take their time traveling from one end of a city to another.
Rats Make Good Neighbors
All through the sewers.
They told me the things they find down there are insane.
The rats, the other creatures that have evolved under the sewers.
The carnivorous animals that have evolved to thrive on human filth.
They are thinking about using their money and tech connections to do some experiments.
Create Underground Genetic Monsters
To do some genetic modifications on these underground rats that are everywhere.
Just to see what will happen.
The game is to see how far you can get without needing to rely on GPS.
So far, nobody has been able to make it to the center.
I Can Do This
At first, this would seem very easy.
But once you’re inside the maze, which is made up of bales of hay, it’s not long before you start to feel panic.
All you need to do is go around a few turns, feel lost and start to panic.
It turns out that the human mind is always only a couple steps away from pure panic.
Easy To Lose Control
That it doesn’t take much to make you lose control.
To push you straight into insanity.
That’s when you fire up the GPS, and see where you are within the maze.
Happy Happy Fun Time
But then you get to the center, and get all the free alcohol you want.
Luckily, they don’t make you exit after getting hammered.
They have a straight underground tunnel.
More Danger More Fun
You get points based on where you hide and find stuff.
You get the most points for hiding and finding stuff in North Korea.
This is why this geocaching game is so dangerous.
Supposedly they have things hidden all over the world, in very, very dangerous places.
Too Dangerous And You Die
But some people like to go to dangerous places.
Most people like to play it safe.
But others have been able to discover that if you want to have the most fun you need to go to the most dangerous places.
