Embedded Commands
The embedded command is likely one of the most versatile language patterns.
It’s fairly simple in structure, but it can be used in plenty of different ways.
I was watching this lecture a while back on Algebra.
And you could tell by watching that the professor really LOVED algebra.
He was using embedded commands like a pro.
This is how they exist in their natural habitat.
He would tell people how to study algebra.
He would say things like, when you WRITE DOWN the equations, it’s like the go up your arm and into your brain.
And this will help you to REMEMBER how to do these equations.
These were absolutely not hidden.
They were embedded only from a grammatical standpoint.
But they were blatantly out in the open.
Be Blatant
This is how you can USE COMMANDS when you want everybody to know what you want them to do.
Because you truly believe in your bones that when people DO THIS, that will benefit.
But you can also USE EMBEDDED COMMANDS in very playful ways.
One way is the quotes pattern.
You quote somebody else talking.
Somebody you saw in a movie or a friend of yours or anybody.
This is best done in the algebra-man style.
Don’t be shy.
Say them blatantly and playfully.
Since you’re quoting somebody else, you won’t get in trouble.
For example:
My friend is crazy.
Super Confident
Like over the top, super-confident crazy.
Zero traces of shyness.
The other day, he saw this girl walking down the street.
He looked at her with obvious desire and said:
I think you are the most beautiful girl I’ve even seen.
In fact, I think you could COME HOME WITH ME right now.
Otherwise my heart will shatter into a billion pieces!
Of course, when you are quoting your friend, you look at an attractive girl.
If she laughs, you’re in good shape.
If she looks at you sideways, tell her you agree.
I Didn’t Say That
This also serves as a safe test to see if a girl (or guy or whatever) is into your or not.
Or you can USE EMBEDDED COMMANDS just to make people laugh.
Yesterday I saw this podcast.
He was a big fan of bananas.
He kept saying that we all should EAT MORE BANANAS.
Because when we EAT MORE BANANAS we’ll get a lot more vitamins.
Which, of course, are good for a happy brain and a happy heart.
Now, I don’t know about you, but once you start to USE EMBEDDED COMMANDS you’ll start to see them everywhere.
Which will make them ever more fun when you USE THEM.
