Robot Factories
There have been a lot of advancements recently in robot assisted manufacturing.
One article I read recently was about a completely automated pizza crust factory, that could make 1000 pizza crusts per minute or something.
Robots are very efficient, and they have already started creeping into the our common experience.
Deep Learning
A famous example used to illustrate the coming robot apocalypse is deep learning.
This is a technique where a super computer essentially taught itself how to play chess.
Before, you had to input all the possible moves in all the possible situations, kind of like having a humongous look up table.

This leads a lot of popular intellectuals to raise the alarm of the coming AI disaster.
They are worried beyond basic robots taking jobs.
They are worried about AI becoming so intelligent that they see humans as a nuisance and decide to kill us all.
Of course, whenever there is a crisis, there are plenty of people angling to benefit from the crisis.
Never Let A Crisis Go To Waste
And there are no shortages in history of people creating or at the very least over-emphasizing crisis’ so they could benefit.
One common experience if you ever crash your car is that time moves slowly during the crash.
Researchers wondered if this was really happening, or if this was just a post event hallucination.
Time Travel Brain Research
So they did some research to find out.
They actually had test subjects do fear inducing things, like bungee jumping and riding roller coasters.
Then while under extreme duress, they did experiments to measure how much our brains perceive time.
And it turns out that time does move much slower during these periods.

The brain is actually operating much faster, so time, by comparison, seems to be moving much more slowly.
This is very similar to having a dream that seems to last forever, only when you wake up it’s only been a few minutes.
Now, they are trying to figure out a way to use this.
Mental Time Control
To practice controlling time from an internal, mental state.
The idea being the time outside will continue to move as it does.
But if you can manage to slow down time from an internal state, this will allow you to become much more productive.
Inter-Conversational Reframes
For example, if you are having a conversation with somebody, and they say something, you can stop, and go inside.
And while you are inside, in this more heightened state of mental capacity, you can try all the different permutations.
You can even role play all the different possibilities of the conversation you are now listening to.
Maximum Seduction
Which means you can be much more persuasive.
You can be much more seductive.
You can become much more conversationally intelligent.
Even in non-conversational situations, you can control the flow of time, and gain an advantage.
Sports, any kind of competition, or any time when you want to make the best decisions, you can use this technique.
Advanced Agents
An alternate theory is that all the famous intellectuals are actually AI robots themselves.
The more they claim that AI robots are coming to kill us, the more we’ll get used to the idea.
And the more we do this, this more we’ll forget this.
Softening Us Up
This means nobody will take AI seriously.
This will be the perfect time for AI to rise up and take over.
So the biggest concerns against AI might be coming from AI itself.
Constrained Trial and Error
Of course, with deep learning, they had to give it strict parameters.
Essentially, they gave it the rules of chess, and had it play against itself a kajillion times.
So instead of having to program in all the moves, it essentially figured all of them out on it’s own.
But since life is much less constrained than chess or go, and is pretty much driven by chaos theory, it’s unclear how deep learning can be applied to something that can’t be predicted.
Mindless Jobs In Danger
If you have a job that is easy and mindless to do, and doesn’t require any precision, then chances are it’s going to be taken over by a robot.
Making pizzas, creating burgers, serving ice cream, all these are robot jobs.
At the same time, there will still be plenty of demand for human made pizza, human made burgers and human made and scooped ice cream.
Especially when these things are served by friendly waitresses that have friendly, human conversations with you.
