Model Of The World
There are two ways to look at the world.
Or two kinds of people with two kinds of models.
But before we talk about that, let’s be clear on something.
The world is a harsh place.
It is, and it will always be, less than ideal.
Sometimes you kick, sometimes you get kicked.
Some days you get the bear, some days the bear gets you.
Professional baseball teams struggle to win more than half their games.
These are among the best athletes in the world, who end up playing on losing teams.
You can study like crazy for a test and still get a B.
You can come up with the best opener ever, deliver it super human confidence and still get blown out.
All You Baby
To put this even more harshly, the world DOES NOT CARE about you.
And when we day the world, we don’t mean the rocks and the trees and the lakes.
We mean all the people in the world.
Every single person you pass by every single day has the same collection of problems that everybody else has.
Worried about paying the rent, not getting fired from their job, whatever fight they had recently with their spouse or partner.
Everybody struggles to get it done.
So when you come sliding in out of nowhere, they are NOT going to drop all their concerns and be super interested in help you get your needs met.
Getting your needs met is YOUR job.
Satisfying your desires is YOUR job.
Staying out of trouble is YOUR job.
Never Perfect
And as we said before, this can ONLY happen in a world that is less than idea.
The BEST response to this human condition is to KEEP getting in the game.
To KEEP increasing your skills.
Your confidence, your social and communication skills.
So you can have a better influence on MORE people.
This is difficult.
Life is NOT easy.
Sure, it SEEMS easy for all the popular goofs on social media.
But for every one of those, there are MILLIONS who are showing up for the daily battle of life and doing their best.
This can create two very dangerous responses.
One is to externalize your problems.
“It’s not my fault, it’s the world’s fault.”
This might make you feel good, but remember, the world does not care about you.
Not Gonna Change
The world is NOT going to change to make your life easier.
The other response is worse.
“I don’t belong in the world because I am broken somehow.”
Both of these are very unhelpful ideas that keep you on the sidelines.
Well, screw that.
Get in the game and get some.
