Con Movies
There are a lot of fantastic movies about con artists. There’s movies about short-term cons and there’s movies about long-term cons. Whether you’re trying out a long-term con or a short term con the basic strategy is the same.
You have to create a false reality around your target and you have to get your target to commit to that false reality. If you’ve ever played sports and you are on offense and you had a defensive person guarding you is kind of the same thing.
If you want to fake the person out, you have to create a false reality and you have to get them to commit to that false reality. If you fake right and they commit to going in that direction and you go the other way that will make you look very very good and that will make them look very very bad.
Japanese Cons
There’s been a fantastic con happening in Japan for about three decades now that involves the Yakuza, a bunch of construction companies and the government. If you’re not aware of the economic conditions in Japan, Japan has the highest debt to GDP ratio of any country in the world.
One of the main reasons is because the government spends tons of money on infrastructure. They spend a lot of money on construction, but what most people don’t realize is that a lot of these construction projects are secretly run by the Yakuza. The Yakuza is getting extremely rich by skimming within these very well-crafted scams.
One of the best scams that ever happen was created by a group of very very clever scam artists. Very clever con artists. They planed their con so carefully, so intricately, they planned what would happen when they got caught. They planned the scam so well that they knew they would get caught but they planned it so that when they did get caught nobody would be able to do anything about it regardless of how horrific this con was.
Con Drug Companies
The con started by them creating a false pharmaceutical company. They created a lot of buzz over this alleged pharmaceutical drug they were working on. This alleged pharmaceutical drug would solve a lot of problems.
It would destroy social anxiety. It would destroy all addictions. It would increase intelligence. It would help you lose weight. They created all kinds of buzz for this pharmaceutical drug that they were allegedly working on. They got so much buzz they attracted a lot of attention from people that worked in the government and people that worked at high levels in the media.
They got a lot of venture capital money. They got all this money, they got all this attention, they had their board of directors staffed by a lot of prominent people. What the con really was was they would allegedly have these drug trials and they would get lots and lots of people to sign up for these drug trials.
Drug Trial Suckers
They would sort these drug trials into two separate groups. One group they would give a placebo to. The other group there were very carefully selected because they were young, they were healthy, they were poor, and they didn’t have a lot of close family members.
When they selected the second group of people they would kill them and sell them to the black market organ harvesters in China. They did this for 10 years. Every person that they lured into this pharmaceutical drug trial and killed and sold to the black-market organ harvesters in China they got $250,000.
When they finally got caught, because there were so many people involved, because there were so many high-level government officials, so many recognized public figures involved, no one would dare prosecute them because this would make everybody look horrible.
Two Groups Of Suckers
Because they carefully selected so many people to give a placebo to it turned out that they looked like they were just scamming people with this idea. Everyone thought the whole scam was just a fake out the companies to invest in them. No one really understood the real scam which was to capture and murder and sell bodies to the Chinese organ harvesters.
The six or seven original con artist got off scott free. They each made several hundred million dollars. This is probably the best scam that ever happened and this is one of the things that you understand about scams. The best scams that have ever been pulled off are the ones that nobody hears about it because the best con artists are the one that planned for an exit strategy that doesn’t make anybody know what happened.
The way that the Yakuza would scam the Japanese government was they had three separate types of companies that work for them. From the perspective of the government, these three companies are independent companies. They don’t have anything to do with one another.
Three Fake Companies
The first company gets the government contract to build whatever building there to build, a bridge or whatever construction project, infrastructure project. The second company comes in after about a year as an inspection company. Finds all kinds of problems and shuts the first company down. The third company is hired to come in and fix the first company’s mistakes.
Of course the government thinks these are all three separate companies. The government thinks it’s doing the right thing by having all this transparency but what they don’t understand is all three of these companies are actually working for the Yakuza. They are clueless.
They end up building a bridge that they had originally said was going cost $1 billion it ends up costing $10 billion. The Yakuza pockets most of the money.
Positive Sports Trait
If you’re in sports, it’s considered very very good to be a good con artist. It’s considered very very good to be able to fake out your opponent. It’s considered very very high level skill to be able to create a false reality and get your opponent to commit to that false reality.
If you’re a con artist, this is considered very evil. Nevertheless if you’re a con artist, the best way to create a con is to create a very intricate false reality and creat it in a way so when the target commits to this false reality it will also be validating the target’s intelligence and social status.
If you can get a target to commit to a false reality that validates his intelligence and his social status, he will be very very unlikely to ever realize his mistake and he’ll go along with that con to the very end.
