One of the biggest secrets of life is that we all have the same fears inside our heads.
Dale Carnegie discovered a long, long time ago that public speaking was the quickest way to self confidence in social situations.
Before he wrote his famous book, “How To Win Friends and Influence People,” he’d organized a set of speaking classes.
People would show up, be “forced” to speak at every meeting, and by the end of the course (usually a few weeks) people would have TONS of confidence.
Word spread about how powerfully effective this was, and pretty soon it was standing room only at these meetings. Packed to the gills.
Even though it’s long been known that public speaking, for most people, is a fear worse than death, people were still clamoring, and eagerly paying money for these classes.
Keep in mind this was the height of the Great Depression, when people weren’t exactly flush.
Why were they so eager to spend money they didn’t have, to do something that was terrifying?
Because people that got over their fear of expression were suddenly making TONS more money, finding TONS of new opportunities, and literally transforming their lives.
Think about that for a minute. If you could walk up to anybody, anywhere, anytime and calmly express your case, persuasively and elegantly, without any fear whatsoever, what would you be able to do?
Bosses, girls, guys, rooms filled with potential customers (and potential commissions), etc. I’m sure you realize that this is the prime reason that those public speaking classes that Carnegie ran back in the day were always sold out by eager people to unleash their powers.
When you think about it, the quality of your life is highly dependent on your ability to express your wants, needs, desires, ideas and thoughts to others in a calm and persuasive manner, so that everybody comes out ahead.
So what’s everybody’s secret fear?
That if they do that, something bad will happen. Everybody is walking around absolutely terrified of speaking up.
Then you come along, and show them how easy it can be, show them what’s really possible, and open a whole new world of possibility for everybody.
Luckily, this is much, much easier than you think.
See, back when you were a kid, this was natural. Were you nervous every time you felt like crying, or did you just naturally start screaming?
That’s your natural state. One of unlimited and fearless expression.
If you’ve forgotten how, you can easily reclaim your power.
