Heaven Or Hell?
Here is an interesting metaphor about heaven and hell.
In hell, everybody is sitting in a huge, round room.
They’ve all got their backs up against the wall.
In the center is a huge pot of delicious smelling food.
They have spoons that are long enough to reach the pot.
But they are far too long to be able to reach their own mouths.
Everybody is hungry.
Everybody is angry at everybody else.
Everybody realizes the problem.
But everybody blames everybody else.
Everybody is waiting for somebody else to fix the problem.
Sound like modern society?
What about heaven?
Heavenly Mindset
Same exact situation.
Big room, long spoons, pot of food, etc.
The only difference is their mindset.
Instead of the hell-people, the heaven-people are proactive and kind.
Each person has the same idea.
“Let me dip my spoon in the food and see if I can help feed somebody on the other side of the room with my super long spoon.”
Everybody has this idea.
Everybody thinks, “Hmm. Maybe I should proactively help others and see what happens…”
And guess what?
In heaven, everybody is fed.
Everybody is happy.
Everybody is talking and laughing with each other.
It Is Within
Maybe the kingdom of heaven really IS within.
Our attitudes and proactive kindness.
Think this is just a silly metaphor?
Think again.
Imagine two dudes.
Both in a social setting.
Both looking at all the gorgeous ladies.
One guy is angry.
He blames the world, society, the economy, female nature etc., because just like Mick Jagger, he can’t get no satisfaction.
What about other guy?
Proactive Love
He goes first.
He spreads a small bit of happiness to everybody he finds.
Who notices the angry wallflower guy?
Nobody.
Who decides to approach angry wallflower guy?
Nobody.
What about proactive guy?
The guy who makes EVERYBODY smile and feel good?
Who notices this guy?
Everybody.
Who enjoys this guy?
Everybody.
Who wants to BE with this guy?
Everybody.
Effort Is Rewarded
Even better is friendly guy does ALL the work.
Just like the heavenly-spoon people.
They don’t demand proof or guarantees.
Similarly, when you learn how to talk to people in a way that’s both pleasant and easy for them, EVERYBODY will want to be on your team.
