Germs Are Deadly
Before they discovered what germs were and how they operate, before they understood that we live in a world with invisible entities that can kill us, a lot of extra people died in surgery.
Particularly horrible was when 1 in 4 women died during childbirth.
It wasn’t uncommon back in the day for a doctor to deliver a new kids while being covered up to his elbows in the infected guts of a dead dude.
If you’re a parent you know that kids can soak up bad habits.
F-Bomb Slips
If you accidentally drop an f-bomb, your kid will drop dropping f-bombs.
If you’re a parent, the worst thin that can happen is your kid starts running with the wrong crowd.
Because then they’ll unconsciously soak up bad habits like not studying or wanting to become a drug dealer.
Richard Dawkins came up with the name, and the label of a meme.
It was similar to a gene, but a mental idea.
Competing Memes
And just like genes compete with other genes in our natural environment in a replication contest, memes compete with other memes in our mental environment in a replication contest.
Once there was an orphan that had been abused for as long as he could remember.
Horrible, terrible, relentless abuse.
He prayed to Jesus, but Jesus didn’t help.
He prayed to Satan, and Satan was happy to help.
He made a deal with Satan.
Help From Satan
Satan would stop the abuse, and the kid would, in turn, be an agent of Satan for as long as he lived.
The abuse stopped.
The kid went to a catholic orphanage.
He went to a catholic school.
He went to a catholic seminary and became a priest.
Demon Exorcist
He specialized in exorcisms.
But he didn’t actually do exorcisms.
He would hypnotize people and open up their souls to all the demons.
He gave sermons to people, and used covert mass hypnosis to open up the minds and souls of the parishioners for Satan and his imps.
He was politically shrewd, and soon became part of the power structure of the Vatican.
Satanic Hypnosis
Over the years, he slowly used hypnosis to infect the minds of all the priests at the Vatican with the deep dark intentions of Satan.
The entire power structure of the Catholic church, all the way to the top, has been usurped by the Dark Lord.
The prince of death.
The author deception.
The silver tongued speaker of lies.
Great Idea…
Lies that sound so compelling, but will eventually lead to ruin.
One model from evolution is that all humans, and all animals, are mere carriers for genes.
That everything we do, our culture, our intelligence, our science, is a means to an end.
The end is to serve our genetic replicators.
Replication Housings
We are mere housings for our genetic replicators.
Our minds are similar, they only serve to be hosts for memes, who are replication in the hallucination space.
The variables that make a meme likely to replicate have nothing to do with truth.
Nothing to do with logic.
Only the temporary emotional satisfaction of the mind that serves as a temporary host, and resonator of the meme.
Twin Studies
They’ve done plenty of studies since the fifties.
On twins raised together, raised apart, non related people raised in the same family structure.
According to decades of research, there are only two things that make up who you are as an adult.
Half are your genes.
Social Reference Group
The other half is your non-family peer group.
So if you want a better life, you need to hang out with better people.
Like it happens mostly in science, the guy who actually came up with the idea of doctors washing their hands between surgeries didn’t get credit for it.
The guy who DID get credit for the idea was a guy named Dr. Lister.
Which is where they get the name for the mouthwash, Listerine.
Remember The Dead While Gargling
So, next time your gargling with Listerine, imagine all the poor ladies who died during childbirth because their doctor was covered in infected dead guy guts.
