New Neighbor
A couple of weeks ago, maybe was a couple of months ago, I am having trouble remembering, I went outside and I saw a moving truck parked in front of my neighbor’s house.
I went to talk to the guy who is moving in or moving out. It turned out it was a single guy moving. The moving truck was not very filled up. All it had was a few boxes of clothes and a mattress. It turned out that this guy had been reassigned to my city.
He was going to start up a new office. They had sent him ahead of the opening of the office and it worked out for him and his family because his two kids are still in school and once they finish the school year they are going to move out and move into this new house.
Head Start
This will give him a couple of months to set the house up and set up. A couple of the reason he needs to set up the house is because it turns out he got it in a very very good deal. He got a foreclosure for about half the market price. The only stipulation was that it came as is he couldn’t use any building inspectors or anything.
He just had to take it as is, but he talked to his company and his company said they would pay to redo the house however it needed to be redone. So he took the deal. I kinda helped him move some boxes and he said he would give me pizza and beer if I help them finish moving his boxes.
He actually only needed somebody to help move the mattress inside and it turns out when the other people left they left a lot of stuff like a lot of people do when they kinda ditch their house in foreclosure. But these people left a lot of valuable stuff.
Just Up And Split
He didn’t really know any details about the people, why they left and I didn’t really talk to them when they lived there. They kinda kept to themselves. They were kind of a strange couple. They didn’t have any kids. We moved all of his boxes and we were just hanging outward looking through all of the stuff they left behind.
They left a lot of valuable stuff behind. It wasn’t really stuff that he could use, because he was having all of his furniture shipped out. His company was gonna pay for all the stuff that he needed and so he was just going to dump at all and maybe give it to the Salvation Army.
We went down to this basement. This basement was fairly fairly deep. It was deeper than most basements. The basement had a lot of stuff also they had all these boxes, cardboard boxes, stuff that was boxed up and they had one box that was sitting on a work bench in the middle of the room.
Box Inside A Box
We open up this cardboard box that was sitting on this workbench in the middle of the room. Inside the cardboard box was a wooden box. Etched into the cover of the wooden box was something that looked very much like an occult symbol.
I didn’t know exactly where I had seen it before but it seemed to be very very familiar. We opened up this occult box and inside were these various small objects.
He left and he came back with a sixpack. We each took one beer out of the sixpack and took off the caps and then we sat there looking at this box of objects. He looked at me I looked at him and the whole time up to this point we had been talking freely back and forth about various things.
Conversational Shift
The neighborhood, the weather, the sports teams, the various movies we’d seen, his new company, he was all excited about his new job. He was excited that even though he loved his wife and kids he was gonna be living as a bachelor for two months and sleeping on the floor. It kind of reminded him of back in college and back when he got his first job. He was really excited we had a very very lively conversation.
For some reason, as soon as he came back and we opened our beers, we kind of sat there staring at this box. It’s like when you find yourself paying attention to something and you not sure how you got to where you were within these ideas.
You just find yourself feeling so comfortable to release your thoughts to release your imaginations to release any kind of critical thinking and just let the ideas outside of your mind take control of your thinking and something happened.
Click
I felt a kind of click. I don’t remember exactly what transpired. How it transpired. I just know that there was one point in time when we’re looking at these objects inside the box and then we were looking at these objects laid out on the table arranged in a circle.
I have a kind of vague memory of us taking the pieces out and putting them around a circle on the table, but I don’t exactly remember doing it and I remember staring at the circle having this vague memory of transferring the pieces inside the box onto the table.
It felt so comfortable just to stop thinking. It felt so comfortable just to let my mind drift. It was almost like when you wake up early in the morning and you realize it’s Saturday and you realize it’s about an hour before you needed to get out of bed and you’re not that tired but you just feel so comfortable just lying there. That feeling that you don’t have to do anything.
No Need For Brain
That feeling that you can just turn off your brain and just let your mind wander on its own. It felt like that except my mind wasn’t wondering on its own. I felt some kind of other presence but it was a very very comforting presence.
I finally reached over to grab my beer and it took a sip and it was completely flat which meant we had been sitting there for about three or four hours. He said something of that he needed to lie down I said something about how I needed to go back to something that I was doing that I didn’t remember what I was doing.
The next morning, I woke up I went next door to find out what he was doing or what it happened and I had this vague need to talk to him but when I went over there there was nobody there. The moving truck wasn’t there. The front door was open. I walked inside, there was nothing inside the house. No furniture nothing left behind. It looked like it’d been completely cleaned.
Dude Just Vanished
I never saw that guy again. I’ve never seen a real estate sign on the house. Somebody keeps coming by and keeping the lawn manicured but I never see anybody doing that. It just stays perfectly manicured. Sometimes I see lights going on and off inside the house but I never see or hear any people.
Whenever I look at the house for more than a couple of minutes I get this very very uncomfortable feeling. It’s almost as if the house just wants to be left alone. The more I think about that event, the more I wonder if it actually happened or if maybe I had some kind of dream.
Once I went into the house just to verify that I really do remember that there is a house there, there was an inside of a house, and I got to the door to the basement. I opened the door to the basement but something told me that going down there would be a bad idea.
Leave It Alone
Not because something bad would happen, but it was an idea that if you do something once and you have a fantastic experience it’s better to not try to do it again. It’s better to just remember the first experience and keep that experience in your mind that you can refer to over and over and over again.
If you try to relive some experience it will kind of make the first experience seemed less by comparison. So after standing at the stairs top of the stairs looking down I decided to go back home and forget about this.
I decided to stop thinking about this. I decided to let the house live on its own. I decided to leave the house alone.
