Doctor Lecture
I was watching an interesting lecture by this doctor a few weeks ago.
He was talking about how, when he first was a doctor working in the ER, he remembered having more compassion for some patients and less compassion for other patients.
This was because he assumed that some patients were innocent victims of unexpected health events, while others were suffering from bad lifestyle choices.
Not So Easy
But after doing a lot of research, he later realized that nothing is as simple.
That it turns out that these things are much more complex than we realize.
I went to the library the other day looking for some information on non-brain based flours for various recipes.
You can find these online, but I’ve noticed when it comes to things like finding simple recipes, there are some unexpected problems.
One Year No Eating
There was a famous medical experiment where a guy went an entire year without eating.
It was under medical supervision, and he was pretty heavy when it started.
I’m not sure why they did this, but one of the reasons was to prove that we don’t really need to eat every day like most of us think.
In fact, our ability to store fat is a really a very effective two way street.
Energy Reserves
We eat a lot food when we have it, and store the extra energy.
When we don’t have any food, we have tons of excess reserves to last us much, much longer than we think.
Which means you have many more resources than you think you do.
But since we live in a society where everything is instant and if we have to wait more than a few minutes for something it feels like something’s wrong.
Can’t Handle Hunger
Most people just can’t withstand hunger for very long before starting to get worried that something bad might happen.
But for the longest stretch of human history, our natural state was to want.
Our natural state was to be have unmet desires, and spend all of our time figuring how we were going to satisfy our unmet desires.
You may even say the whole reason behind human creativity and invention is to satisfy desires in more effective and efficient ways.
Unmet Desires Drive Innovation
But the ideal scenario is when we have a desire, and we think about that desire, sometimes for days before being able to figure this out.
The biggest problem in modern times is our inability to delay gratification.
In the old days, we had no choice.
Our environment did the delaying of our gratification.
Internally Delayed Gratification
Today, we must do it ourselves.
If you can learn to delay gratification that can lead to a lot of social and financial success.
If you can’t delay gratification, then that might lead to social, financial and health ruin.
They’ve recently discovered some ancient manuscripts from the high middle ages.
This Is By A Wizard
Written by a wizard, or at least somebody who was recognized at the time as a wizard.
One of the things that happened between the early middle ages and the high middle ages was the seed ratio.
In the early middle ages, around 1000 AD, if you planted a hundred seeds, you would only get enough plants to provide 200 seeds.
Not A Good Success Rate
Meaning whatever you planted, you could only eat half.
You had to save half so you could plant more stuff.
But by the high middle ages, around 1300 AD, they had increased the ratio to 4:1.
Meaning you could plant 100 seeds, and get enough plants to produce 500 seeds.
Increase Ratios
So the stuff you could eat was four times greater than the stuff you planted.
These ancient manuscripts written by this wizard explain how.
The come from an area that flourished during the Carolingian renaissance.
During the time, this Wizard had the idea to appease the gods of the Earth and the gods of the sky.
Pagan Party People
This was during a time where most people in Europe were still pagans.
Between the end of the Roman Empire and the end of the high middle ages, there were still a lot of pagans in Europe.
This wizard sacrificed one tenth of the crops to the gods of the sky by burning them.
This wizard also sacrificed one tenth of the livestock by sacrificing them, and bleeding them into the Earth.
Advanced Science Is Magic
At the time, they thought this was magic.
But it turns out burning crops and pouring animal blood into the soil is a fantastic way to increase the fertility of the soil.
Only at the time, they thought this was magic.
And as you know, any kind of science that is beyond human understanding is thought to be magic.
Live Off The Air
One weird thing that is being kind of common today is the idea of a breatharian.
These people who live only off the air.
But like many things, having more data would be helpful.
For example, say the average person has 20% body fat.
So a person who was 150 pounds would have 30 pounds of body fat.
Air Or Body Fat Reserves?
Each pound of body fat is about 7000 calories, which is enough to live off of for 4 or 5 days.
Which means an average person could live off their own body fat for a few months.
So even within our own minds and bodies, we may be applying science that we don’t understand.
Magic Or Science?
So we think that this is magic, when this is just really advanced science.
The reason I don’t like looking for recipes online is a lot of bloggers have been taught by SEO practices to write really long articles.
And fill them with tons of SEO keywords.
But when I want to find a recipe, I don’t want to have to slog through a 2000 word essay on how to bake bread with almond flour.
Unknown Causes
He started to realize that some people that are overweight have metabolic syndrome, and some don’t.
And that some people who are skinny have metabolic syndrome, and some don’t.
Many doctors are starting to realize that eating a diet of processed grains and sugars is more dangerous that how much you actually weigh.
Don’t Publish This
There’s even studies they did way back in the sixties, that they stopped and didn’t publish because they didn’t like the results they were getting.
When you go shopping, unless you are being deliberately conscientious, it’s very hard to not buy food filled with processed grains and sugars.
Particularly dangerous is high fructose corn sugar, which you can find in pretty much everything.
One might even suspect there is a kind of conspiracy between three very powerful industrial complexes.
Many Industrial Complexes
The agricultural industrial complex which very much wants us to eat tons of grains and sugars.
The medical industrial complex that wants to sell us overpriced drugs to fix the problems caused by the agricultural industrial complex.
And the advertising industrial complex, which wants us to obediently watch TV and allow ourselves to be brainwashed by pharmaceutical ads with the same structure.
Brainwashed By TV
To lull us into complacency with silly TV shows.
And blast us with ads that all have the same structure.
If you have a problem, then you should go see your doctor and he’ll give you some pills that will fix you right up.
It’s almost as if we are the soil.
Farming Us For Profits
And the industrial complexes are the farmers.
And they are seeing how much profits they can grow from us.
By keeping us as complacent and brainless and asleep as possible.
