Gorgeous Japanese Woman
I used to know this Japanese woman in her mid sixties. You could tell that when she was younger, she must have been absolutely, drop dead gorgeous.
She told me once about her husband. When I met her, her husband had already died. But he would love hanging out in these hostess bars.
Where guys pay for drinks and also pay for young girls to talk and drink with them. She didn’t seem to mind, as when she described this it didn’t seem to bother her.

I guess she and her husband were old school. A lot of old school Japanese wives understand that their husbands go to places like this. Kind of hard for Americans to understand this, but Japanese wives control all the money, if they don’t work and the husband does.
They have Valentines day in Japan a little differently than in the states. Their, as well as in Korea and Taiwan, the advertisers have managed to split it into two holidays, so they can get twice as much money.
Girls are supposed to buy things for guys on Valentines day. And guys are supposed to buy things for girls on White Day. White day is on March 14, one month after Valentines day.
Milking Money From Customers
Another famous scam by advertisers is how we buy engagement rings. Way back in the old days, men and women would shop for engagement rings together.
But the diamond cartel convinced men they needed to buy rings and surprise their girlfriend by proposing and presenting a ring.

The reason the diamond cartel wanted men to surprise their girlfriends with an engagement ring was so they would go shopping for a ring alone.
Gullible Men
When men shop alone, we tend to spend more money than when shopping with a future spouse. It’s also why they created that rule of needing to spend three months salary.
It’s similar to the white day rule in Asia. Guys are supposed to spend three times what their girlfriends or wives spent on Valentines day.
It is kind of interesting to go to department stores right around Valentines day. All you’ll find are women shopping for expensive boxes of chocolate.
She Got Double
My friend told me she was one of the few women who looked forward to getting chocolate on Valentines day.
That’s because her doctor husband would get all kinds of chocolate from his hostess girls, which he would then give to his wife.
And then he would buy her another gift on White Day.
