Protestant Reformation
One of the biggest challenges that came to the Catholic Church came in the Middle Ages with the Protestant Reformation. This represented a huge market share challenge to the Catholic Church because up until that point the Catholic Church was the most powerful entity in Europe.
They had a lot of power the had a lot of sway they had a lot of wealth and so they had to come up with some type of response to the Protestant Reformation.
A very common inflection point in the typical hero’s journey story arc is when the hero has a real opportunity to gain an immense amount of power but this immense amount of power has to come by switching from being a good guy to being a bad guy.
I’m A Good Guy!
It’s very easy and is very common to pretend to be a good guy but only pretend to be a good guy because you don’t have any real opportunities to be a bad guy. The only way to truly prove that you are a good guy is to have a real opportunity to be a bad guy that’s laid at your feet that doesn’t require any work that all requires that you seize this opportunity.
But you turn the opportunity down especially if nobody will know that you can take this opportunity that’s the one way to prove that you are really a good guy and not a bad guy.
There’s a lot of people that suffer from night terrors and unfortunately if you go to your doctor complaining about night terrors there’s not a lot they can do because it’s after the fact. There’s not a lot of tests they can do to determine if there’s any type of biological or chemical problems.
Night Terrors
Most often the most common diagnosis for night terrors is some type of psychological problem or some type of mist calibration between your sleeping and dreaming and natural paralysis mechanisms that keep you from moving while you’re having a dream.
The most common explanation is that when we sleep we have dreams and when we dream our body paralyzes us to keep us from acting on our dreams but then when we wake up all three of those things are supposed to stop at the same time. The dreams are supposed to stop. Your sleeping is supposed to stop and the paralysis is supposed to stop when you switch from being sleeping to waking.
Sometimes you wake up, you’re conscious but you’re still dreaming and you’re still paralyzed for some reason. They don’t know quite why this happens but for a lot of people that suffer from night terrors this is not a very comforting diagnosis because it’s an explanation, but it doesn’t really explain how to get rid of the night terrors.
Past Life Experiences
There’s a lot of religions that believe in some type of reincarnation and on a bigger scale there’s the metaphysical idea that we are not physical beings having a spiritual experience we are spiritual beings having a physical experience.
On a much bigger scale it’s often kind of assumed that on the spiritual side of things there all these good spirits but that might not be true. There’s a lot of evidence from science, for example matter and antimatter, night and day, the different yin-yang philosophies of a lot of mythology that indicate that for every good spirit there has to be a bad spirit.
The battle that happens in our souls might be a representation of the eternal struggle between good and evil. We might indeed be spiritual beings having a physical experience but the spiritual side might not be this everlasting peace and happiness. The truth of deeper reality may be everlasting struggle between good and evil.
Parasitic Entities
One not too mainstream explanation for night terrors is that 90% of the universe is matter that we cannot measure. Energy that we cannot measure. This 90% of the universe that we can’t measure directly as been called dark matter or dark energy.
Just like our own universe that we can measure is comprised of beings like us that are both physical and spiritual, there might be a lot of other universes that we can’t measure that are existing side-by-side with us, coexisting with us that are made up of these dark matter dark energy physical and spiritual entities.
When you experience night terrors it might be one of these entities coming to you like a parasite just like yours many parasites in biology. There’s parasites that can live off the host for a long time. There’s parasites that can kill the host. There’s parasites that will get inside and live inside the host for as long as they possibly can.
Sucking Soul Energy
These night terrors might be these parasitic entities that are fixated on your brainwave signature. Once they fixate on your particular brainwave signature they might come to every night while you sleep so they can parasite energy from your soul.
In the movies the hero always turns down the opportunity for evil power. If you remember Apocalypse Now, after Martin Sheen’s character killed Col. Kurtz, he had a brief opportunity to take over his power but he turned it down.
When Darth Vader offered his hand to Luke Skywalker, Luke Skywalker turned him down. When the devil tempted Jesus in the desert, Jesus turned down the devil. It may be we like the scenes in the movies because we know they never happen in real life.
All Power Corrupts
We know that in real life power always corrupts and absolute power always corrupts absolutely. Maybe these transitional elements scenes in movies are pleasing to us because we know they could never ever happen in real life.
Deep down we’re all terrified that each and every one of us would gladly accept the hand of evil if it were to give us unlimited power over other humans.
The main response of the Catholic church to the Protestant Reformation was to create the Jesuits. The Jesuits would be in order of priests with a power unto themselves. They would report only to the Pope and their job was to go around the world and battle for market share.
CIA Jesuit Parallels
That’s very similar to how the CIA was created after World War II. After World War II there is a worry about the spread of communism so the CIA was created to be a power structure unto themselves. It would do whatever they wanted around the world to combat the spread of communism.
Just like the CIA has become so powerful they’ve essentially taken over the United States government, the Jesuit order has become so powerful they have essentially taken over the Catholic Church.
Proving the old rule that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
