Basic Economics
Recently I read this interesting book on economics. It talked about the basics of trade and said that nobody will trade anything with anybody else unless they want what the other person has more than what they have.
If both people feel this way there will be a voluntary trade that will make most people happier after the trade.
There’re a lot of examples of this in nature. For example, bees get nectar from flowers and flowers have bees come that cross pollinate them. Both of them think they’re getting the better part of the deal. They don’t actually think this but they’ve evolved to coexist this way, in this overlapping selfish behavior.
Simple Organisms
There’s a very interesting theory of humans and all other complex animals that once upon a time we were these very separate and distinct very simple organisms. Once these simple organisms started to operate together in that mutual selfish way we kind of bonded together. That’s why today all complex animals have all these different systems to come and work together in one larger meta-system.
One of the interesting things that is a mystery from history, human history is the Neolithic Revolution happened 10,000 years ago but the first societies didn’t pop-up for about three or four thousand years after that.
So the question is what was going on in those three or four thousand years? One way to look at that is each one of these individual hunter gatherer tribes could be seen as a singular organism. It took those two or three thousand years to figure out how those individual singular organisms could work together in a large meta-organism that we call society.
Subgroups In Every Society
If you look at society today, you can see all of these different singular organisms within this big meta-organisms. If you look back over the history of human life on earth, you’ll find that every single collapse of society came when all of these individual organisms could no longer coexist and they had to resort to violence.
Ever since the dawn of life on earth there’s always been these eco-systems that are about several thousands of smaller individual life form groups all coexisting. Part of that is that there’s been five separate extinction events throughout the history.
Even without humans there to mess things up these meta-systems that are made up of the smaller systems are never really truly stable and there will always get to the point they were collapse.
How To Make Money
If you live in a society, you can see how this pressure of trade will lead to an upward pressure and creativity and inventions. If you live in any society and the only way to get money is to sell something to somebody else that will force you to think of creative ways to make things or do things that are of value to other people.
As long as that happens, as long as that, as long as those conditions exist everybody will be busily trying to create more things to sell to each other and that would lead to a continuous upward pressure and inventions and technology.
Selfish Trade Opportunities Everywhere
If you want to get money from other people the easiest way is to find out what they want, figure out how to get it to them and get them to give you money in exchange.
