Library Expansion
I’ve noticed a new thing they are having down at my local library.
They’ve been putting up notices for these day trips.
They are put on by the city, and I don’t think they library itself is involved in organizing these trips.
I think the library is just a convenient meeting place.
They have a kind of big indoor lobby that’s open outside of regularly library hours.
Cool Next Door People
I have this really interesting neighbors.
This is one of those guys that makes you just feel comfortable whenever you are around this guy.
Sometimes when you are hanging out with people you don’t know well, the pauses in the conversation can seem kind of awkward.
Like whenever you hear some silence, you feel the need to fill it in.
But with this guy, the pauses don’t bother you so much.
This guy has that natural energy that just makes you feel comfortable.
Lawn Mower Happiness
The other day I was watching him mow his lawn.
He would walk away from me, turn around and come back.
He had this interesting look on his face.
A look that said he was totally content doing this.
That this was all that was needed to stay happy.
That this was all you need to feel at peace.
Future Kung Fu Legend
It reminded me of an old kung fu story.
This guy was looking around town for a kung fu disciple to teach.
And he chose this guy that worked in a tea shop.
Because this guy would serve tea with total focus.
Like the only thing in the universe was the guy serving the tea, the tea, and the customer.
That’s what this guy was like.
Him, his lawnmower and the lawn.
And in that time and that place, that’s all this guy needed.
Wanna Have Dinner?
I watched him until he was finished, and when he was finished, he invited me to dinner.
I’d never been inside his house.
But at the same time, this seemed totally natural.
Taquito Hero
I have a friend that got a job in a taquito factory.
When he got this job, he thought this was a dream come true.
Because this guy absolutely loves taquitos.
But after he worked in the taquito factory, it changed his taquito outlook considerably.
Wandering Through The Stacks
I was hanging out in the library the other day.
Something I like to do.
I like to be surrounded by stories.
So I picked one up and random, and turned to a random page, and started reading.
Hero’s Journey
It was a basic hero’s journey story, but it was for young adults.
A bunch of kids had some traumatic event happen that made them have to leave their homes.
But to make it believable it was in an ancient kingdom, where children have to sometimes fend for themselves.
These kids had to travel a long ways for some reason.
And as they slowly met up with one another, they realized that they all had overlapping problems.
Overlapping Solution States
Which meant they all had overlapping solutions.
But the part I read had one of the kids talking to some spirit in the forest.
I don’t know of this spirit was a main character.
Or if maybe this spirit was merely a mythological literary device to deliver a needed message to the main character.
The kid, who was talking to this spirit, was thinking of giving up.
Of going back home and trying to find some work on a farm.
But this spirit told him that giving up is easy.
Do What Most Can’t
Going forward is not.
Everybody has desires, and all those desires that everybody has is associated with dangers.
With fears.
But because you can remember, now, all those times in the past when you’ve overcome obstacles, you can find that inner drive.
That inner drive that everybody has, but only few take the time to recognize.
Remember Your Successes
Because you can remember those things.
Those things that were giving you trouble.
But you realized that only you could overcome those obstacles.
That only you knew how to push through to the other side.
And when you did, only you knew about it.
Get That Special Feeling
It made you feel really good, but it was a very special feeling.
A very private feeling.
One that you can remember now, as you listen to me.
One that can remind you of your great potential.
Because only you are capable of doing what only you needs to be done.
Internal Driving System
And you know many people won’t notice.
Many people will stay asleep.
But you also know that this is OK.
Because for you, this will be a very private, very internal victory.
Which is why you cannot give up.
You cannot go back.
Embrace Your Destiny
Because when you stop, and look deeply inside, you know this is your destiny.
I didn’t check the book out.
Sometimes I like to pick up books, read only parts of them.
That allows me to imagine the rest, based on how I like to imagine things.
He told me that when he saw what they put into the taquitos, that kind of put him off the frozen kind you buy in the supermarket.
Be Careful About Taquito Contents
Which is essentially the same kind you buy in restaurants.
But since this guy loves taquitos, he started making his own.
So all in all, it was a good change.
Dinner was kind of strange.
This guy cooked, this guy cleaned, and his wife just sat there.
Like A Statue
She looked pretty normal, but she didn’t talk.
She didn’t eat, she didn’t really move that much.
And he didn’t introduce her to me.
He didn’t even look at her or mention her.
She just seemed happy to look at me and listen to me while I talked to her husband.
Did I Imagine This
But after about halfway through dinner, I wondered if I was maybe imagining this.
If maybe this all wasn’t some kind of hallucination.
That maybe if while I was watching him mow his lawn, this guy decided to hypnotize me.
Like maybe this guy reached out with his mind, and put some ideas into my brain.
Ideas that felt so comfortable, and familiar, it didn’t really matter if this is a hallucination or not.
I Like Museums
Most of the trips are to museums.
Some of them are pretty cool sounding.
So I’ve signed up for a couple.
One of them is a big museum downtown of natural history.
Science On Display
Another is a museum of science.
I like museums.
Because they take a whole bunch of interesting things, and put them all in one place.
So you can kind of hang out, go at your own place, and appreciate this, in your own way.
