Camping Is Fun
I’ve always liked camping. I’ve always liked different kinds of camping.
When I was very young I joined Boy Scouts and that’s where I first learned all about camping and how you can do it in its various forms.
When I was in college me and my friends used to go car camping. This is where you pull up to a campsite you get out of your car you start a fire you sit around the fire and you do the same thing around the fire that you do in the dorm rooms which is namely drink alcohol and smoke marijuana.
When I graduated college and got a real job I started to go backpacking. It’s much more intense than car camping because backpacking requires a lot of planning and preparation. Backpacking can lead to some fantastic experiences because you get up in the high hills the high mountains that you can only get to buy walking for several days which means you get to places that most humans will never see.
Old Friends
A couple of years after I graduated I reached out one of my old friends from college looking to rekindle the college camping experience. We picked a place that was close by, it was kind of a mix between backpacking and car camping. We could park fairly close to the campsite but we still had to walk about 2 miles.
When we got to the campsite it was this huge valley that nobody was in. It was only us was only my car in the parking lot, so we knew we got there that we were going to be alone. We found this very very large fallen tree that had fallen a long enough time ago that it was easy to roll down the hill to our campsites. We could have this huge bonfire.
We started this bonfire when it was still light. As we were sitting around this bonfire getting ready to settle in for the night we saw this figure approaching from the distance.
Cowboy Movie
It reminded me of those old kind of cowboy movies where they have a cowboy riding at you are away from you far off in the distance. They combine the heat effect would you have the heat waves rising off from the desert service so it creates this kind of rippling effect over the figure.
Because they zoom in quite a bit and as the character either moves closer towards you or moves further away from you they adjust the zoom effect so that it looks like there riding in place whether they’re coming at you are moving away from you.
They can kind of use these images like the final image of the movie as the hero rides off into the sunset or if they have this is the beginning image of the movie we have the bad guy coming at you and is coming at you and it seems like he’s moving in place this is what it reminded me of.
Dude Up To No Good
This guy was walking towards us but it seemed like he was moving in place. He seemed like it was some kind of cinematography effect and he was visible through the heat that was coming up off of the fire. Because as the heat was coming up off through the fire it created that same kind of ripple effect.
My friend and I went through a few kind of thought processes as we watched this guy approach. The first idea was that he was may be some kind of forest ranger that was gonna tell us that our fire was too big and maybe he was going to give us a ticket or maybe he was going to ask us to leave.
Our second thought was maybe he was just a camper that was coming to say hey and ask if we had any marijuana we might share with him. The closer he got the more we started to get worried because he had this very strange look about him it started to be aware.
Dude Gonna Kill Us
I started to notice that he wasn’t wearing any kind of backpacks or fanny packs her he wasn’t carrying any water bottle. The place he was coming from was this place with these kind of two hills merged together into this very steep valley that was covered in this very thick brush in these kind of not so tall trees.
It was a very thick kind of area he wouldn’t be able to walk through but he was coming from that area. My last thought was that right when he approached us that he was may be some kind of a serial killer is gonna pull a gun out from behind his waistband and kill us both and then keep walking.
If he did that nobody would ever find our bodies because when we chose this campsite we didn’t register anywhere we just drove parked and hiked in but then he started talking.
He Said:
I know that you know what’s coming. I know that you know that the world is about to collapse. I know that you know that within 10 years there will be a cataclysmic event that will lead to an unending amount of pain of suffering of anguish and of human death.
There will be so much human death in the near future it will be a collapse of biblical proportions. Billions of people die and won’t be because of the war. It won’t be because of the disease. It will be because of massive civil unrest that happens when the rulers of society fail to carry through on their promises to take care of people.
In the very near future the Earth’s resources are going to run out. The crops will stop producing food. The skies will stop producing rains. The oil wells will stop producing oil and energy and all productivity will grind to a halt.
No More Food
When people realize that is happening, when people realize that the only food they have is what is in the refrigerators and the stores have been picked clean, that is when people will resort to violence and cannibalism to survive.
When this transition comes, it will very very quickly, one week people will think everything is fine, the next week will be a few political announcements, the next week will be a few economic announcements, the next week after that will be a few solemn declarations by the United Nations and global leaders. The week after that all chaos will be unleashed.
Humans will kill and eat other humans and that will go on until the population of the Earth is back down to manageable levels because mother nature is pissed and she is about to enact her revenge. And the guy just kept walking past us.
Huh….
We sat there for like a two or three minutes not saying anything. We talked about this guy, we came up with a couple of theories about who he was and where he came from and what his angle was and we soon forgot about him and went on with our camping trip hike backed up to the car and drove home.
That was about 20 years ago and obviously his prediction didn’t come true but then again maybe that prediction is always about to come true because you never know when nature will force itself back into an equilibrium because as they say reversions to the mean can be extremely painful.
