Tai Chi Wizard

Get Out Of The House

A long time ago I took this class in tai chi. It was a class that was 24 weeks long and each week we would learn one new movement. By the end of the 24 weeks we had a whole self-contained kind of tai chi structure that we could do by ourselves whenever we wanted without having to find a group of people to follow along with.
 
The class was taught by a very interesting very very charismatic person but it was charismatic on much more subtler level than I had ever understood at the time. He came to the United States when he was in high school from China.
 
He came to Chinatown and his dream was to get a degree in electrical engineering and then get some kind of a job and live a regular American life. When he came here he came all by himself in high school and he didn’t speak a lot of English. He had to kind of think his way through the system.
 
In doing so he had a lot of these kind of black-market shadow economy type jobs. He had to meet and deal with and work with a lot of black-market shadow economy type characters. One of the characters that he met had a huge impression on him and this is ultimately the reason why he decided to study tai chi while he was becoming an electrical engineer.
 

Charisma Man

The guy that he met had just massive amounts of charisma. He seemed to be a master of esoteric interpersonal human energy and it later turned out that this was something that he had carefully cultivated.
 
This guy had such a presence that when he showed up everyone started automatically thinking in terms of their best case scenario. When this guy would walk into a room you would automatically start to think in terms of your best case future.
 
Most people have dreams and ideas and wishes about her future but very few people take the time to think about it in concrete terms. The impact this guy had on other people, he would he would cause people to start thinking of your future and specific concrete terms.
 

Something Cool Is Coming

Not only that but you would see your future in concrete terms and you would see ways to make your future happen in concrete terms. You would see like specific steps laid out between where you are and where you want to be.
 
These would be steps it would seem very easy and natural to take he would take away all the uncertainty about thinking about your future all the anxiety and worry at risk about thinking about your future.
 
This was something that wasn’t just some kind of a natural magic thing. This was something that he carefully cultivated. Part one was how he got paid. He only received a payment by successful organizations that he helped he would look at a company’s income.
 
He was a okay I’ll help you increase your income and my payment is going to be 10% of the increase. But he didn’t want to get paid for at least six months which meant they had to be successful for at least six months before they started the plan. They would pay him from six months on for one year at 10% of their increase in income.
 

Good Things Are Going To Happen

Right when this guy showed up everybody knew right of the bat that he would only create these outcomes that would be very very successful in the long term. The second thing that made him so charismatic and positive and have a positive impact on people was how he talked to people.
 
He would specifically talk to people not based on the ideas in his head but he would talk to people about the ideas in their head. He would carefully expand their ideas. He would talk to other people and when he talked to other people he would carefully expand the ideas in other people’s heads.
 
He would carefully get the other person thinking in terms of the other person’s ideal future. He would ask them specific questions about their ideal future and it would help other people come to terms with describing their ideal future.
 

Expand Your Ideal Future

When he helped other people to describe their ideal future when he got people when he convinced people when he was able to get people talking about their ideal future they started to think in terms of their ideal future and this combined with the fact that they knew he wasn’t going to get paid unless they are successful, this created a very very positive kind of energy around all of these negotiations.
 
Just when this guy showed up everybody knew that something really really good was going to happen. Just because this guy was talking to people, they kind of started to notice a feeling that says something very very cool is about to happen. He only met this guy wants and it had an impression on his entire life.
 
He did actually go and get a degree in electrical engineering. He had a very lucrative career. He had a family. He had kids, grandkids. As soon as he retired he started to teach tai chi. The way he taught tai chi was absolutely incredible, this guy was amazing.
 

Watch Study Practice

He would spend maybe five minutes demonstrating the movements for that particular week and then he would just kind of walk around and watch people practice.
 
The way he talked to people while they were practicing was absolutely amazing. He would like stand off to the side and most of the time when he would come and watch you practice wouldn’t even know he was there.
 
He had such a quiet, unassuming presence, and when he delivered his advice to give you a little pointer of how to better do the the particular movement for that week he would watch their breathing carefully.
 

Slip Knowledge Between Breaths

He would walk up to other people, he would watch the breathing of other people carefully and he would carefully deliver his advice in between breaths. He would cause the least amount of disturbance almost as if he was walking up to a very calm pond of water, you want to slip some information below the surface without disturbing the surface.
 
He would walk up to people, he would watch the very carefully, he would read other people’s body language very carefully. He would deliver the advice so carefully that wouldn’t disturb their surface structure conscious mind tranquility.
 
People could continue to practice while almost unconsciously receiving this advice. He would also deliver the advice in such a way that it would be remembered forever. That’s why I still remember this guy to this date.
 

Ripple Effect

It’s people like that you meet that have an impact on you. The most important people you could ever meet. If you can find a way to be that person to other people you can also have that impact on others.
