Retired Young and Rich
I have a friend that I just started hanging out with. I didn’t start hanging out with her until after she retired. She is only 26 and she retired from this tech company and she said she was the main programmer behind this kind of idea that still sort of under development.
Her payout, when they sold the company to up a bigger company looking to further develop the idea, she said her payout was mid seven figures which means her payout is between one and nine million. She said it’s enough to relax but not enough to give the world the finger and go permanently shopping in Paris.
Most of us, because we hate our jobs, if we got that much money we would be set for life and we would go on permanent vacation. But because she was such a driven person, she was working so hard as a programmer for so long to finally get that much of a payoff it’s very hard to just shut your brain down automatically.
Outgoing Hobbies
Before she figures out what she wants to do next careerwise she’s doing a lot of these very very interesting hobbies. One of the hobbies she started to do as she started to participate with this improv acting troupe.
She joined this group near by her house. This group of people that get together and do this improv acting technique. I had always thought that improv was associated with comedy because when you hear about improv I guess it turns out that all actors need to have a very strong improv talent.
What improperly means is you’re learning how to radiate this kind of spontaneous energy on stage so even if you’re reciting a bunch of memorized lines you’re still reciting them with this very organic very in the moment energy as if you’re saying them for the first time.
Improv Energy Powerful
Even if you want to memorize what to say, you can still say these things as if you’re saying them for the first time if you practice this improv organic energy. The way they do this is they get a bunch of people together they choose a simple theme around a scene they’ll perform.
That’s all they start off with. They don’t know what they’re gonna say or know who’s going to do what who’s going to be which character. They just know that there’s a basic theme and they get up on stage and they try to carry theme as long as they can. Just kind of making up stuff in the moment.
They have to kind of play off each other. Come up with different creative ideas and whoever comes up with a creative idea everyone has a kind of spontaneously go with it without making the audience think they’re stopping and thinking and stopping and thinking.
All Out In The Open
What is particularly interesting about this group is they don’t do this on stage in front of their classmates. They do this out in public and they set up the system where someone has a whole list from a gigantic list of themes to do a scene around. They pick a theme at random and then they kind of show up at this place in public and they perform this scene from an improv standpoint.
Their whole angle is to try to convince everyone that watches them as they’re walking by that this is an actual spontaneous event that this is actually happening that it’s not some group of actors that are practicing. One of the guys in the group does this by himself.
He is very out there with his kind of creative thinking and his creative confidence. What he does is he has that same list but instead of having a list of themes that he picks it random he has a list of characters that he picks at random and these are some of the craziest characters you’ll ever hear about.
Preacher From Another Dimension
He’ll pick like a preacher for example. He’ll pick a time traveler. He’ll pick some kind of an angel from heaven or pick some kind of an alien from another galaxy or another dimension that comes here to warn humans. All he does is he shows up, he uses this app on his phone that is programmed he chooses a character at random, and then he just starts talking in character without knowing what is going to say.
He says the first couple of minutes are absolutely terrifying. Like for example he’ll be an alien from another dimension and his angle is he needs to warn humans about some cataclysmic event that’s coming. He has to convince them that he’s warning them as an alien from another dimension and he has to do this believably.
When he starts talking he doesn’t know what he’s going to say yet. He has to make it up in the moment. That’s his version of practicing that type of improv energy but he says after a couple of minutes something very incredible happens.
Surrender to Other
When you finally give yourself up and accept the other to speak in the moment, when you accept that you don’t really need to know what you’re going to say next it, he says this kind of other entity takes over you. When you surrender to this other entity it’s almost as if this other entity is talking for you.
It’s almost as if you kind of float out of your mind and you join with the collective consciousness of the people that are watching you. You’re kind of joined with this collective conscious and you’re watching yourself speak and when you shift into this objective other entity mindset that you’re watching yourself speak.
The person that you are watching speaking begins to speak with the most eloquent most elegant words you’ve ever heard before. You start to appreciate these words the other you is speaking and he says sometimes this happens for an hour to once he kind of slips out of his mind after the first couple of minutes of anxiety passes.
Detach and Watch Yourself
You can detach from yourself for a couple of hours and watch yourself speak and at the end of a couple hours will be plenty of people, hundreds of people standing around watching you speak. They will all have been convinced that you are absolutely congruent with what you are saying.
They will all believe you are an alien or a preacher from another dimension or a heavenly body coming to warn humans about what is going to happen and he said this is the most wonderful the most blissful the most mentally orgasmic state he’s ever experienced.
All it takes is going someplace very very nervous speaking in public speaking without needing to know what you’re going to say next and this other entity will come in and take over and that will be the most freeing thing you ever experience.
No Recording Allowed
The only drawback to my friend in her improv group is they don’t videotape themselves when they show up and do these spontaneous performances because they say this will kind of kill the whole improv feeling, if they were to show up and set up a camera and then everybody would know they’re performing for the camera.
Everyone would stand around and watch as if they’re watching a performance. So they purposely show up without any cameras and sometimes people do film them and there are videos out there of them performing but they purposely don’t look for those because they would see themselves on camera and there would be harder for them to slip into the improv energy.
Unique Person
She’s one of the rare individuals you can never meet that is and is incredibly intelligent and incredibly confident and incredibly proactive in creating things to make a much better future.
