Lifetime Killer
A couple of weeks ago I saw this lifetime movie about a guy. It started off after he had killed his first wife. The movie was about how he started to get his potential second wife to fall in love with him and then as she was falling in love with him she found out that he was a killer and she and another female detective found all kinds of evidence in his house and he eventually got arrested and put in jail.
The movie started out with him as a motivational speaker. That’s how he got his victims. The very first scene in the movie was him giving a speech or a talk to one of his motivational seminars. Most of the audience was female and so he was talking to this group of female audience members at this motivational talk and it turned out that’s where he found his victims.
In the first scene was him talking and he told the audience to close your eyes and think about something that you really really want. Think about something that represents your life’s biggest dreams. See that thing as vivid and as real and as powerful as you can see all of the colors.
Make The Dream Real
Hear are all of the sounds. Touch it. Walk around inside of it or walk around outside and touch as many parts of that you can. Make this thing as real as you possibly. Build up as much desire as you can for the same feel that desire resonating within you.
That desire is attraction energy. Let that desire resonate within you and be the attraction energy that attracts that thing to you in your life. Feel that powerful desire energy as consuming your entire thought process your entire being. Allow your entire mind-body system to resonate with that desire energy.
As he was doing that it reminded me of an actual seminar that I want to back in the 90s. The guy during the summer was giving a free seminar and he was a very very famous real estate guru. Make money in real estate with no money down type of things.
Nothing Is Really Free
He was getting a free seminar at the Anaheim convention center. The Anaheim convention center requires that you pay for parking at the seminar. This free seminar came with validated parking which told me that he was going to try to sell something.
Because it costs the people that give the seminar a lot of money to validate the parking, they have to pay for the parking for all people to come, that’s how they can validate it.
The seminar started out in a big room with about 1000 people. This very famous real estate guru came walking out onto the stage everybody crazy everybody started cheering and hollering and screaming in this guy can make us rich.
Dude, Are You Going To Say Something?
He just stood up there and smiled and waited until everybody became quiet. When it became quite he stood there for about another minute and he had this kind of grin on his face like he was about to do something crazy. He reached into his pocket and he pulled out $100 bill.
He held the hundred dollar bill out to his side without saying anything. The entire room, filled with 1000 people, was just deadly silent for about another minute and finally one woman lept up out of her chair and ran up to the stage.
Right before she grabbed it she looked at him as if to check if it was okay and he smiled and nodded and she took the hundred dollar bill and ran back and sat back down in her chair. He said let me explain what happened.
Too Scared Too Try
This is exactly why most people will never be successful. Because we all can see an opportunity but when we see the opportunity it requires that we leave our comfort zone to go and get this opportunity.
It requires that we go first. It requires that we take action and we’re not sure if that action is going to be successful. No doubt that woman ran up on stage to grab the hundred dollar bill she was really really nervous she had no idea was going to happen.
That’s what it takes to become successful. You have to take action where you don’t know what’s going to happen. You have to leave the safety of the crowd behind. You have to be willing to go first.
Two Competing Beliefs
The great paradox of success is everyone whenever they hear about some type of strategy or technique to become successful, their most common respons is, well it makes sense but I’m in a wait and see if someone else does it first to prove that it works or not. I’m going to wait and see what happens of other people try first.
The problem is, if you’re thinking that and there’s only one $100 bill up there, if you wait for someone else to go first, waiting for someone else to go first is going to be the same thing that causes you to not get that opportunity. This is a great paradox of success.
We have this idea. We think this can protect us from being embarrassed or taking risks or is going to make us fail. That same ideas that keep us from being successful. It’s like a self-defeating belief in our mind and he did the same thing a couple of times throughout the seminar.
Two Time Con Man
A second time he was talking, he just had this curtain in back he lifted up and behind the curtain was a stack of boxes. About 100 boxes of this kind of software this kind of software that allegedly would help you make money. The exact same thing happen. People rushed the stage and because there was 100 boxes in 1000 people in the seminar only 10% of the people got the box but this time a lot more people stood up.
Then when the seminar was over he said now where you sell you the system will teach you how to make money is for sale across the building inside of a small room. And they’ll only be for sale for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes it will no longer be for sale. So everyone lept up out of their chairs including me.
We ran over to the small room. The looks on the people’s faces were absolute desperation. The actual purpose after a couple of days combined I kind of digested what happened in the seminar kind of realized what had happened.
Nothing But Sizzle
The seminar didn’t teach really anything. It was just kind of some basic ideas about money and risk, taking action, sales etc. But with the real purpose of the seminar was to train the audience to build up this massive FOMO. This massive fear of missing out. At the end of the seminar the whole audience rushed to the back room and everyone had this desperate desire to buy stuff.
That’s why this guy was so incredibly rich because he was able to create such massive buying desire in the audience and he didn’t really explain any of what was in the program. The people were buying, he just created this massive buying desire and it created this massive desperation for people to buy this product without even really knowing what the product was.
That’s how powerful these instinctive buying strategies are.
Open Your Eyes
In the movie when the guy told everyone to close her eyes and about the biggest dreams for about five minutes then he said open your eyes and look at me.
That was another trick. He had the people close their eyes and see their biggest desires, make those desires as big as they possibly could, feel that desire energy and then open their eyes and looked up at it and you do that you’re looking at the seminar teacher.
If you’re a guy you’re gonna try to have the seminar so mostly females you’re gonna try to create massive desire for you from the females if you have to be a killer that could be the perfect way to find your victims to choose the victims that are so desperately in love because of the tricks you’re using your seminars. It will be very easy to make them fall in love with you so you can later kill them.
She Didn’t Fall For It
Of course a story was told from the perspective of the woman that he didn’t kill because she moved into his house she was at the seminar she started to fall in love with him but then she started to realize that some things were not quite right.
She contacted this other detective and the two of them found evidence in his house and he ended up going to jail.
This is a very very powerful demonstration of PT Barnum’s famous statement that there is a sucker born every minute.
Sucker Born Every Minute
The thing that most people don’t realize about that statement that there’s a sucker born every minute is that the reason people are suckers is because they’re there willing to believe something is too good to be true. They are willing to believe that they are actual shortcuts to success and that idea that belief in a shortcut to success that is what makes them such a sucker.
